Hello everyone! I've started my quest for armor and fantasy garb a while ago and thought I'd give it a go here!
I'd like to hear some critique to improve my gear for my local fantasy association; I'm going for a Scandinavian/Celtic/Barbaric Design. Thank you in advance!

To be quite honest: I would like to improve my garb with either leg protection/bracers and or Tassets - Though even the latest Battle Skirt from the Skill Tree Video on Youtube would look phenomenal
(And I do have Shoes and Sandals, but I was too tired to slip into them)
So, yeah some sort of tassets would look good and probably some greaves. Both will add quite a bit to the look. Bracer wise, I'm a fan of bazubands. Forearm/elbow protection that I'm just a fan how they look
You made the garb?
I made: The tunic, the undercoat, the coat, the bandages; fitted the axe head onto the new handle. The Rus-Pants and the shoulders are second hand. And, well, the reindeer pelt has been there since I started
The stuff you've made looks fantastic. Great work there, friend.
I've got some shenanigans like fibulas, necklaces, torques and such, but It really starts to shine with bright blue facepaint you still find in stranger places after 3 showers ^^
Thank you very much
Do you plan on making the bits you want to add yourself?
For leg protection, you might want to look for splint mail like this:
Yeah these are gorgeous
Atleast the Tassets/Battleskirt. I'll have to spare a bit until then, but I think I've already kinda fallen in love with said design from the latest vid on skill tree. I could even imagine to add maille, since I know how to make it myself and it would be very easy to add, if done similarly like with the rannits fur ^^
And quite easy to make yourself, but I have to admit that I disassembled mine long ago. Those above are from Armstreet.
Indeed. Splint armor is awesome, though i fear for my ankles
I do like armstreet, but I think I have a few other merchants to check; I'll be back in a bit
Armstreet charges heavily for some products, including those. $430 for a few pieces of metal, a few rivets, leather straps and buckles hardly seems fair.
You'll find similar products for <100$.
If you go for splint mail at all.
It matches well with the aesthetic you aim for.
54/169€ 👍
GG @kind loom, you just advanced to level 3!
I do love armstreet for it's design, but the prices are horrendous. I like to keep my list of merchants up to date though. I'm not from the US too, which makes shipping a lot more costly for many products
dont mean to be mean, this is just an opinion, but I dont like that muscle cuirass with that kit
it looks wildly out of place, and doesnt match anything else except the colour of the helmet
you've got a great fantasy barbarian look, but then this weird Roman royalty chest piece that seems so misplaced
if you need it to point the pauldrons on, then you should try making a gorget to replace it. You can point it onto that, and this style of character often looks good without chest armour. Or buy/make a leather breastplate that matches the pauldrons
Duly noted and no offense taken. I had a hunch it was out of place when I first wore it, but the feeling of wearing that cuirass is astonishing ^^
I'lle be looking forward to crafting a leather Half-Plate, when I've got the mats and time :)
Personally, I'd add leather greaves that have some metal splints added on top as leg armor. Make your own leather greaves, and then just rivet some metal strips on top to make them.
Could also do that with your existing bracers to up grade them.
Have you looked at what Burgschnieder has to offer ?
