So I figured I’d start a comment here so it can grow as it will.
Anywho, what if you were to design your own playing cards for merch? You could make them all unique and roguish. I say this because though some decks have a nice feel to them they don’t always have the potential to be antiqued and made into something more. Just a thought as y’all do an amazing job with just about anything you set out to accomplish.
That being said, what if the new crafting levels were somehow worked into the card design?
#Playing Card Idea as Merch

what if they based the suits off of the different archetypes!
Like a tarot deck? or just a normal playing deck?
I would assume a normal playing deck
How cool would it be to trade cards in and out of decks, and make the cards collectible. Like each deck would have a base design, but each one sold would have a limited number of modified faces. Meet up at larps, and you could trade for different cards. I'd do this with just a regular deck and see how long it would take to collect a whole bunch of differnt ones.
Not like a full on TCG, but similar.
Or if the decks were based on the skill archetypes, they could all be traded or awarded to make a very customized deck for an individual's skills? I would keep the suits the same to keep it simple and easy to work with, since most people probably know how to play at least one or two games with a standard deck without causing too much confusion over rules at events... also a very random last minute idea while I'm typing it, but how funny would it be to have an easter egg in the cards, something like if you had all the face cards next to one another, you could make a version of the Skill Tree logo, like having all the Exodia cards in Yu-Gi-Oh?
the Tinker would definitely make a good joker 🤣
No....Grimm need to be the Joker
I know....
King- Clever
Queen- Madi
Jack- Belfried
Suites would be:
Tinker-Clubs (I can imagine gears for the three circles)
Leather-Hearts (maybe throw some saddle stitching along the edge)
Clothier- Spades (working on that one still)
Metal- Diamonds (working on that one too)
and then the paper of the cards represents the carpenter 🤣
That's DEEEEEEEEEP. Just saying.
See now it just needs to be regular suites with the Skill Tree logo on the back. The true deck needs to be a Tarot style for Skill Divination.
@ruby gorge thanks for getting yet another project stuck in my already crowded head. I've already started looking into how to make them at home, and have several ideas.
@mighty timber but wait, there’s more! Why not add more elements into the design to make the cards work for multiple games? Such as these…
@glacial laurel @vernal jolt why not have the cards utilize multiple different images that could overlap into multiple different games so that your deck of cards will have all that many more uses.
CURSE YOU!!!!!!!!!
But think of all the amazing decks! It would be super simple as well with fantasy themes.
I mean, we'd probably all buy it....
