I wanted to talk about it for a while, but I keep forgetting because memory of a fish.

Sounds as simple as it is. If you have Shadow Crystal, you may only transform to Wolf, and not back to Human until you get the Master Sword. It would be hell to figure out the logic for it, I know. But it sounds very... Hardmode type thing in a Randomizer.

#

Or clearing a Twilight region also transforms you back into human, I guess?

regarding the logic thing: youre right, basically any locked-as-wolf shenanigans would require a full rewrite, but my idea would be keeping this setting NL-only (but im probably changing the suggestion too much rn lol)

Oh, yeah. I meant it as a setting for hardmode, yes.

Technically they already are lore accurate - not being able to transform back was only because the SC was buried deep into link's head and inaccessible

(However the suggestion itself is still cool)

It can't even be placed inside any large chests because they have to be opened by Link. And you can't place it in most indoor locations.

#

Can't place it in Snowpeak because you need to fish as Link to learn the Reekfish Scent.

#

Can't place it anywhere in the Desert because you need to use the cannon to reach the area.

#

Can't place it deep in either of the Lantern Caves.

#

Can't place it in most of the dungeons since many require Link to reach the entrance.

#

Can't place it on any walls or trees or on any high ledges.

#

Just these few limitations really narrow down where it can be placed.

#

And I didn't even cover everything.

It's not that simple. The only way this would work is in a no-logic in an unofficial fork

Would be very befitting a no-logic setting. I'm not sure if I explained how it would work. But I meant you can keep the crystal and not use it until you get Master Sword, or risk it if you somehow know you can definitely get Master Sword if you were to transform. So a one-time transformation card to wolf but you can't reverse it until Master Sword.

yea i got what you mean, but ijr human would stay completely out of logic until you found master sword

#

also i forgor to mention in answering Oni: the current logic assumes you can transform to human any time its needed

so the more i think of the logic for this or for general wolf-only, the more hell it becomes

#

and logic isnt built like "item x cant be placed there and there", logic is like "here is a list of all checks in this room and of all neighbor rooms with their requirements"

I one day hope to understand how logic is programmed, but just thinking how much it has to do on its own is making my brain overheat. I salute you logic programmers, genuinely. Can't imagine how horrific it is.

for me it wasnt hard to understand at all, like the syntax is super easy to read. it just gets a pain when you have to think of special things like this or e.g. key logic

That excludes the dungeons, Snowpeak, the Desert, most interiors, and the lantern caves.

#

If an area is possible to reach as Wolf Link but isn't acquirable, writing the human logic is indeed necessary.

#

We're only talking less than a quarter of the game though.

#

Oh well. We're only talking about a hypothetical situation here.
I didn't mean to sound so pushy.
