#Controller and rx binded but registers no input at all

what fpv system is on the drone? dji? analog?
Analogue
can you post a photo of the expressLRS Lua Script screen while tx and rx are bound/connected?
can you post a photo of the receiver wiring to the FC and screenshots of the ports and receiver tabs please
Sure
I’m pretty sure I’ve wired it correctly rx to rx and vice versa. The soldering is not too good either but I think it’s fine
Computer currently out of battery so I’ll try to get it charged quickly
@stone topaz here it is. I’ve made sure the rx is wired to R2 and T2
put the receiver into wifi mode and post screenshots of the webui Options and Model tabs please
isn't this an RP1? why is it flashed with an EP1 target?
(though they can be interchangeable)
Heard since it’s quite old that it comes stock with happymodel software
Move the receiver into uart 3 please
Like resolder?
yes
Problem is I’m not home where my solder stuff is
Is there anything else we can check?
on the receiver webUI, can you load the /hardware.html page and post screenshot of the section right after the banner please (doesn't need to be all the way down.. just the immediate section after the banner
How do I load the page?
with the receiver webUI up, just add /hardware.html to the url
Ok
e.g. 10.0.0.1/hardware.html
Too bad I just turned off the drone so gotta wait a couple secs for the WiFi mode
Now it just doesn’t wanna go into WiFi mode
is your TX powered up?
power it up and use the lua script to put receiver into wifi mode
Ok
It keeps disconnecting and reconnecting even while sitting still
As soon as I turn on rx WiFi it looses connection and the WiFi mode stops
it's normal to lose connection with the TX when the receiver goes into wifi mode
if wifi mode stops, that means the power is insufficient.. connect a lipo
(but ensure there are no shorts, or the blue smoke will appear)
how'd you get those screenshots earlier then?
By powering the rx and waiting 30 secs. That has worked every time
So imma try it again
turn off your radio and reboot the receiver
The radio is off and I’ve rebooted the receiver and now I’m waiting 30 secs for it to go into WiFi mode if it doesn’t find any tx to bind with
your auto-wifi interval is 60
not 30
That’s what it came with, I haven’t flashed it or anything really
so why are you waiting in 30?
you didn't changed any of the receiver settings via the webUI, did you?
you have the radio Off the whole time and rebooted the receiver once the TX was turned off?
and there have been no change in the receiver LED pattern even a bit?
I'd suggest reflashing the receiver via betaflight passthrough, to latest firmware versions
How would I do that?
Wait now I think it changed its pattern. It going blink blink blinkblink so two normal blinks and then two short ones. But still no WiFi
Imma try to flash it
@stone topaz how do I know what packet rate I have?
When choosing preset
It says 250 in my tx so imma go with that
Sorry for taking so long, but now I tried to flash and got this error message. I configured the fc according to your link and tried to flash.
@stone topaz
this says the flashing script cannot get a hold of the receiver.
possibly due to a wiring issue
(could be the same exact reason nothing from the receiver is getting into the fc)
Well I’m sure i wired it correctly, so could it be that the uart is broken?
less likely
Weird. I mean I solder rx to tx and tx to rx
Should I maybe do anything with the flashing options?
you can try the unbricking procedure, but if it's the connection that's borked, then you're still gonna have to rewire the receiver
(this requires you to solder on the boot pads, and the 5v wire into a 5v pad that only powers when a LiPo is connected)
If I have to solder imma have to wait until tommorrow
Omw home now so imma try to resolder to a different uart tonight and get back here when I’m done
@stone topaz Just soldered the rx and tx to uart 3 instead of 2 and the green light is now solid green with no connection to the tx
Seems like after a minute the green light switches to a slow blinking mode
cant get anything to work so imma try to unbrick it
Tried the unbricking methods and bridged the boot pad to ground and when flashing I got an error message saying cannot detect rx target, flashing blindly. I also have a mobula 7 that also uses elrs and I can’t get that one to bind either even though it’s worked before
cannot detect rx target
this is normal since the receiver is in bootloader mode. unless you're not following the guide and you didn't soldered the boot pads
the mobula 7 could have an spi elrs receiver and it requires to be on bf 4.4+ to sync with expressLRS 3.x
and there's only limited rf mode/packet rate support for it
Thank you, I did get the mob7 to work and I have soldered the boot pad to negative
@stone topaz So what would the next step be?
so you can't get the unbricking done via passthrough?
Unsure, I thought that I was supposed to flash it and that failed
then the best next option is to reflash using a uart adapter. or swap it out with a different receiver
(having a uart adapter, if you don't have one yet, is highly recommended; better have it and not need it, then need it and not have it)
yes, that is a flashing procedure, with some specific steps
But I’m unsure of I flashed it correctly
there's only "got it flashed and it's working as it should" or "didn't got it flashed and still issue persists"
successful flash should have that green success bar in the configurator
If I just try one more time to flash it. I can show you a photo of the settings (I turned off telemetry in bf)
did you rewired the 5v wire of the receiver into a 5v pad that doesn't power up with USB?
per the guide?
thats what kinda confused me
I mean how do i know if a 5v pad is only powered via lipo
they are marked with "5v" instead of "4v5"
Ok, i have it soldered to a 4v5
or that when only usb connected to the fc, the pad would read 0v with a multi-meter
so rewire the 5v of the receiver, per the guide and try the unbricking procedure once again
Yes thank you
brb
Should i be resolder the 5v back to 4v5 when im done unbricking it?
yes
not necessary, but your call
ok
thats easier
so i dont have to cut the cable shortrer
imma try the unbricking now
I have the usb connected and start to flash and when it says passthrough done i plug in the lipo?
yes..
per the guide
can you post the full !log file please
looks like it's a connection issue
just . . . . .after
can you post a photo of the wiring to uart 3 please
I hope you didn't took out that resistor/inductor near the boot pad
I had to use a lot of solder to get them to bridge but i dont seem to have anything like that behind
I dont have anything on the boot text like in the picture
the receiver side wiring could use some improvement. like some additional flux so there's none of those spikes
so you have the earlier v1
that's kinda a bad spot for a receiver, particularly this v1
vtx heats up, affects the crystal oscillator.. detunes it.. and now the chips are out-of-sync
won't be affected much if those are tcxo (which the v2 are guaranteed to have)
So its just a bad receiver?
at this point, i'd really suggest reflashing via a uart adapter, just to have much fewer variables.
and while you're at it, get another receiver..
Wouldnt it be easier to just by a v2? So that it wont get too affected
exactly
Maybe i could try using an rp2 temporarily while waiting for the new one since i have one not in use
