#Geprc nano unable to bind

New to this, I have a Cinetbot30 that I loaded 3.2.1. to and set bind phrase, Radiomaster Boxer radio running 3.2.1. with same bind phrase.
Drone does not lock on to radio but proceeds to wifi, boxer radio does not show telemetry, but 500Hz 0 ERR on internal module.

expressLRS lua script works and detects when arming controller, betaflight shows failsafe because no controller. Model match is off.

How do I troubleshoot this? read manual and watched youtube tutorials until my eyes bleed, I cannot find any issue.

Can you put the TX and RX into WiFi mode and show screenshots of the webui?

#

!webui

raven rover
#

since I only have one controller and one drone I do not know how to proceed, I had the TX elrs module replace because I thought it had issues...but no joy

#

it surprises me that UID is not the same even though I flash with same bind phrase from the configurator, but maybe that is normal

maiden hearth
#

I see a few things wrong:

  1. You have receiver baud rate set to 115200 in the webui. Change this back to 420000.
  2. Your arm switch is in the wrong position when trying to connect. Make sure you have your arm switch set to Aux1 high, and that you are disarmed when connecting.
  3. Set internal RF baud rate to 5.25M.
  4. Enter your binding phrase on the TX modules webui and click save and reboot. The UID bytes should match on the TX and RX or else they will not connect.

I tried the online flasher for the receiver, but it has no option to "erase flash"

raven rover
#

the GEPRC nano receiver has a "firmware upgrade" button, but no instructions for when or how it should be used.

lusty trellis
#

try on radio set baudrate 400k then if still doesn't work try to check inverted pin on rx

raven rover
raven rover
#

now I cannot get a stable wifi connection to the RX either, seems it is rebooting everytime I connect to wifi

maiden hearth
# raven rover the problem seems to be the RX, when logging in all values (including UID) come ...

It sounds like your WiFi connection to the receiver is weak. Reflash via Passthrough, following the flashing guide. Do not change any options that you do not know what they are.
https://www.expresslrs.org/quick-start/receivers/hmep2400/#updating-your-receiver-firmware

ExpressLRS aims to provide the best completely open, high refresh radio control link while maintaining a maximum achievable range at that rate with low latency. Vast support of hardware in both 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz frequencies.

If you encounter an error, post the full log

See the following image to save a log file from the configurator

raven rover
#

flashing using passthrough never worked which is why I used Wifi, but I will do it again and post full log

maiden hearth
raven rover
#

it powers up on USB, not sure what wiring you want to see, this is a geprc cinebot30 so I have no idea how they are built

maiden hearth
#

What VTX do you have?

raven rover
#

O3 air unit

maiden hearth
#

The wiring between the receiver and FC

raven rover
#

that works

maiden hearth
#

How many wires go to the O3?

#

4 or 6?

raven rover
#

6

maiden hearth
#

Then you need to disconnect the SBUS wire, you can't have two receivers connected

#

Depin the SBUS wire from the harness that goes between the FC and O3

#

It's usually the yellow wire

raven rover
#

lots of yellow wires, and none of them disconnect on their own, what to you mean I can't have two receivers?

#

I can disconnect the entire O3, but I don't understand how that is involved.

#

tried disconnecting the O3 entirely, same problem

#

Geprc nano unable to bind, no errrors displayed

#

Geprc nano unable to bind

maiden hearth
#

Please show a clear photo of your receiver wiring

raven rover
#

this is the best I can do, but I highly doubt a BNF is incorrectly wired?

maiden hearth
#

You must be new to this hobby 🙂

#

What FC is this?

#

Your receiver is wired to uart 4, but you have SerialRX set to uart 2 in Betaflight

#

Uncheck SerialRX next to uart 2, check SerialRX next to uart 4, then show screenshots of your ports and receiver tabs

raven rover
#

uart 2 is serial according to manual and betaflight, are you saying that is uart 4?

#

the FC is a GEP-F722-45A AIO V2

maiden hearth
#

Look at your wiring guide and compare it to where your receiver is wired to

raven rover
#

manual says UART2 shoud be serial RX, and it is in betaflight

maiden hearth
#

That's not where your receiver is wired to though

raven rover
#

no...I see that too, manual says it should connect R2/T2 but it is connected to R4/T4 it looks...

maiden hearth
#

So change that setting in Betaflight

raven rover
#

it seems the VTX is connected on uart2 or 5, hard to see because it uses a connector, so I changed that to uart 2, how can I tell if that is correct?

#

YAY changing the UART made the flash work...I spent like 10+ hours troubleshooting everything except the BNF buidl..

maiden hearth
raven rover
#

really? mine was vtx (irc tramp) is that not correct for o3 air unit?

#

I am amazed how many things are wrong in a BNF...

maiden hearth
#

That is not correct

raven rover
#

ok, I changed that too, now transmitter binds, strangely the blue leds now turn off immediately when starting drone

#

I can see stick input in receiver page and AUX1 goes high on controller arm, but even after arming engines do not sping

maiden hearth
#

What arming disable flags are shown in Betaflight?

#

Can you show screenshots of the receiver tab and the setup tab?

raven rover
#

this is with arm active, aux1 goes high

maiden hearth
#

What warnings are shown in the OSD?

raven rover
#

nothing, I am not getting OSD, just the default goggles stats

maiden hearth
#

Can you show your configuration and motors tabs?

#

Do you have OSD enabled?

#

Can you show the output of status in the BF CLI with a battery plugged in and the arm switch in the disarmed position?

raven rover
#

yes, in config tab

#

Arming disable flags: CLI MS

maiden hearth
#

It looks like you cut off the last bit

raven rover
#

no, that is all I get

maiden hearth
#

It says MS? Not MSP or CMS?

#

And there is nothing else after that

raven rover
#

oh, sorry, the line was truncated, it says CLI MSP

maiden hearth
#

It should arm

#

Make sure you have OSD enabled, and that the warning element is added to the OSD

#

Everything else looks ok to arm

raven rover
#

the only difference I can see when pressing arm button is that AUX1 goes high (2000)

#

and while I have video feed I have no OSD

maiden hearth
#

Is the O3 plugged in? Can you show your ports tab in Betaflight?

#

And the OSD tab

raven rover
#

OSD page was huuuge...

maiden hearth
#

OSD should be showing up...

#

I don't know if you have to do anything special with O3, I thought it was supported by default

raven rover
#

maybe that is related to goggles? I am more wondering why it does not arm? I am correct to think that after arming giving throttle should start engines?

maiden hearth
#

The motors should spin as soon as you arm

raven rover
#

and Aux1 going high is arm, right?

maiden hearth
#

Yes

raven rover
#

I am truly at a loss here, again I have no idea where to even start

maiden hearth
#

If this was a BNF from GEPRC, I would contact them for support

#

You paid them good money for a working quad

raven rover
#

yeah, this is a bit of a joke....

#

I can spin the motors in the morors test mode

maiden hearth
#

Can you show screenshots of your motors and modes tabs?

#

I'll BRB

raven rover
#

modes is just empty

#

which probably explains it...

#

I added a modes/ arm as being 1500-2100, now arming works...

#

question is what other things I am supposed to have configured under modes?

maiden hearth
#

Other typical settings are a switch for acro/angle mode, turtle mode, and beeper

raven rover
#

ok, I will have to do some research, do you have any suggestion on how I can start troubleshooting the OSD not working? can it be goggles or is it just overlayed on the video feed?

maiden hearth
#

It's MSP messages sent to the VTX from the FC

#

And rendered on the goggles

#

Confirm the VTX is wired properly

raven rover
#

running the command "set osd_displayport_device = MSP" solved it

#

I am amazed at this community, I spent so many hours trying to understand what the issue was, many hours on other forums with out result, the fact that it could be wrong from factory never occured to me...

#

thanks a lot for you patience in helping me 🙂

maiden hearth
#

This hobby has a steep learning curve, and the manufacturers don't always help

raven rover
#

truer words were rarely spoken 😄 I bought this setup in march...first boxer radio came with broken elrs radio...so close to just giving up by now
