tested this some more, and turns out that this only works at the very beginning of the battle
if you swap fast enuff, it seems like the targeting is not yet set to the boss, hence it skips the swap in attack and can instantly ping without dodge cancel
so this is only usable if you can swap to vera right at the start, without doing anything on the starter char
