the real reason is logistics, it was too much effort maintaining various servers across different patches separately and it is a much easier to streamline maintenance to keep everything under one roof essentially. This is mentioned in their video announcement.

Imagine looking after 100 families with 100 separate homes. It can be hard to keep track and too much effort going back and forth every house.

Instead you can put all 100 families under one massive unified home. It's just logistically easier to execute and keep track of everything together. It was a mistake by them doing this at the start - it was never their intention to begin with. They should have released this game globally together but CN was released first . So when they were slowly releasing to other countries , they couldnt just skip their patches straight to CN - that wouldnt makes sense. So they picking up their mistakes and fix this.
