the income for pulls is partially tied to at least do the basic score/participate in competitive and clearing events/recurring activities, it's considered "easy" to earn all possible pulls for those who have decent teams but if you fall behind on that it can quickly snowball; harder/incomplete clears -> less pulls, less mats to improve characters -> slower/incomplete improvement -> things gets harder an so on
