getting a weapon into dirt or water doesn't exactly guarantee a jam

when it comes to water, it will cause a failure to fire if the water soaks the gunpowder in the cartridge

once the hammer hits the primer of the said cartridge, the gunpowder will fail to ignite and the round won't fire

and with dirt, malfunctions aren't all that likely unless all that dirt gets deep inside and gets in the chamber or somehow prevents the rounds from cycling while firing

it takes quite the clogging for any of that to happen
