when i play a game, i look into not only story/gameplay or music (i study music btw), one more thing that is very important is how game-like it is
in this case, how it presents itself as a gacha game (ok, i mean more like 'anime game' or sth but there isnt a term for what i meant in english)
hi3 acknowledges itself as a game, the ui, the design, it feels like an otaku game where u collect waifus and stuff and fight stuff
its a very 'normal' 2d game (cn term for anime game)
same with pgr, it presents itself very much as a game that you can have fun with
these are an expansion on early anime/gacha games, where they are more bland and without depth, but those are the origins
now i cant really say more as the 'feeling'/'vibe' of a game's presentation is very much not able to be put into words. tell me why the colour red gives u the feeling of whatever feeling it gave you.

then i'll move on to the games i 'dont like'
wuwa, hsr, genshin, zzz, and many others (hmm there seems to be a bias)
they dont feel like games, they dont try to be
'games are more than simple toys, they are a media of expression, much like novels and movies'
well amigo, sometimes you forget the 'game' part
let me use uhh... genshin as an example
this point might boil down to 'it takes itself too seriously' but i dont give a f
it over and over, tries to cosplay as computer games (non anime style/gacha), and well, it also (kind of) tries to make itself look less like a '2d game' (wait, the game is 3d! not my point anyway)

then to hsr, this is what i like to call one of the biggest sins in game developing: 'pride'
probably not what you are thinking
u see, to continue my last point, they try to be even more 'professional', like how classical music gets elitist, it made me kind of ashamed to be a classical music student
in hsr, from the ui alone, you can see it becoming more polished
you might say, its a good thing! why not?
well yes, its good, only if without the 'pride' factor

the thing that made me (kind of) uncomfortable and triggering my adhd is how it dosent even make me feel like im playing a 'game'
the way the main story is treated is kind of similar to genshin (same company, you big dummy)
split into various acts, bringing you to places it wants you to go and making it look as if you wanted to do what it's telling you
no i do not give a f(umo) about talking to some random-ass npc, no it does not make me feel more immersed in the game by listening to the characters' meaningless dialogue about their chores
you might say (i have to stop using this phrase uewgh) i just dont like the story, the story is bad, etc.
well thats not the point (wait what is my point?)

hmm, i havent played hsr in quite a time, but let me use penacony as an example
i feel like 70% of the arc is spent on irrelevant places
walking through corridors, talking to npcs
these acts are supposed to build up to something worth hyping up for, but what do they build up to?
another build up
this feels like some random rave party where the music builds up with a simple riser for a minute (probably for the ppl to consume some substance they shouldnt, idk)
all while acting like they know what they are doing
speaking garbage in an expensive suit is still speaking garbage, take them out

i want to end this short becauase i still have maths homework lol, so ill conclude

dont try to write a novel like the bible, or danteh writing the divine comedy
also, adding a f-ton of effects on a 1 minute riser is still a boring riser, give me actual harmony, give me progression, give me composition, dont give me non melodic rave buildups
