There are harder places. But you need to pay your social insurance for example out of pocket when you are not employed. Your pension is calculated not only on how much you got taxed for income, but also based on how long you were employed. Add to that the prices are relatively high compared to how much you could earn even at minimum wage (which is still going to be more than what you earn with unstable work).
