I will explain further;

The movie as we all know is Black Hawk Down, that is based on an actual event called the Battle of Mogadishu which also known for the movie title. It tells a story of a Delta Force operator and their fate during the Battle of Mogadishu against Somalian.

The movie itself was a astonishing and a fun-watch that it receives multiple positive reviews from viewers.

As for, me, a gun lover I do actually find some inaccuracies that the movie depiction for the weapon. Although some are correct.

One of the firearm appearance in some clips is this generic Armalite Rifle.

People guess it's an M4 or an M4A1,

and no it isn't.

What the character holds in this image is a Colt number series of rifle known as the Colt Model 727.

Or with other names "M16A2 Carbine."

For the entire movie, nearly all Delta Forces guys even the main character holds this weapon.

As if you know in real life scenarios, Delta guys didn't use 727 during Gothic Serpent.

CAR-15/Commando was different because during Vietnam. There is no official name for the entire series; common unofficial names for the series include CAR-15 and Colt Commando, though they are technically inaccurate names.

It can come with many type of serial numbers, you can see them being entirely different design.

As for appropriate choice; the movie should depict the characters using Colt Model 653 and 723. Colt Model 727 are commonly found by Rangers rather than Delta, remember.

You can also see SFC Sanderson, even other characters, with this 727 using an anachronistic, Aimpoint CompM2 reflex sight (NOTE: it was not commercially available, until 17 March 1995. And later they standardized the SOPMOD kit in 2000).

It was worth noting that, during Operation Gothic Serpent, some Delta operators and Rangers utilized the Aimpoint 3000 and 5000 reflex sights (which due to these optics being discontinued and rare would explain the extensive usage of the CompM2 scopes standing in for the older Aimpoint scopes during filming).

And you might be thinking; M4 doesn't have it's appearance in the film, well, it does.

It is very recognizable on one scene, Mike Steele points out the fact that the selector switch on the carbine carried by Sergeant First Class "Hoot" Gibson isn't set to "SAFE", who then replies "This is my safety" and bends his trigger finger. Looking at the selector; it appears to be molded into the receiver of the gun, this is likely to be a rubber stunt prop.

And the fact that this film taken place in 1993; the use of rubber stunt prop is also midely anachronistic. As we know US Military didn't adopt the weapon (Not even SOCOM) until 1994.
