So, apparently Ian Flynn's writing in Sonic Frontiers was so powerful that the English - Japanese translators at Sega JP couldn't really handle it because it was like nothing they'd translated before and as a result the game sounds google translated in Japanese.

@dusty willow I inconsistently get good runs on arti . Id usually die at Sky Meadows or get very lucky and just get clapped at stage 12 loop.

Shes the only one im not comfortable with playing if i want to go long loops or mithrix

Artificer is like

A toss up depending on the items you get.

You either get a good build or a bad build. There is no in between, basically.

Unlike with someone like Commando where you can make do if you get a below average build.

She is pretty unique in the sense that shes a spellcaster type so its like rotating around her cd's.

But i still find both of her m1 options quite unsatisfying. Wish she could increase her m1 stacks or do something with those extra stacks.

Her fire M1 is pretty meh.

Her alternative is better. Easier to land, does better with crowds.

The chargeable grav ball is basically her bread and butter though, rather than her M1, actually.

Specially when you use her alternate ulti, which sends you upwards.

Making her a super safe character to use.

crowbars, bandolier, backup mags are necessities for her to keep up with larger enemy waves later down the line

She doesnt sync well with on hits/proc based items like tri tip or atg missile for example either because of her lack of sustained dps outside of flamethrower (which requires you to go in close but hey atleast with ignition tank out its a little bit better)

Problem is, if your build doesn't have high burst potential with that strat, you're kinda screwed if you have the alternate ult.

Electric M1 is easier to use for crowds.

The problem is, Electric M1 does less damage than Fire M1 and, again, Ignition Tank makes Fire M1 deal wayyyy too much damage.

Railgunner is just busted. Though that is offset by how slow she is, her damage output is still insane.

Also built in cleanse and upward mobility

I think giving her a melee-like or even an actual melee M1 would've been good for her tbh.

As you said, it gives incentive to use Flamethrower, which is a high-risk skill considering it takes away your only form of mobility as Artificer permanently but gives you a massive boost to your damage.

The problem is, all her other skills are range-focused, which discourages the player from actually using the fire Special.

My initial idea is that
If you want a high risk high potential reward Arti playstyle

• base it around high DPS upclose, incentivizing flamethrower usage, and on hits like tri tip synergy or atg.
  -Make her m1 a sort of melee attack. Maybe she fans a small burst of flames in her direction?
• Ice spear m2 could be reworked into a spear stab forward as a form of mobility.
• Ice wall can be kept, maybe we can do some neat stuff where you can impale enemies to the ice walls through ice spear m2
  ALSO FFS LET IT BLOCK PROJECTILES ATLEAST. ITS A WALL

If you want the long range safer, high burst Arti playstyle

• base it around high dps from longer ranges. The sacrifice here is that her on hit procs will be much weaker
• electric m1 is still the same though maybe the range could be bigger?
• Nanobomb m2 is perfect already
• Superjump alternate R should be moved to the utility skill section
• Her R should be maybe some sort of thunderstorm aoe or something? Play around the idea of the "mage character" im sure they can make something work with the archetype
