The ballistic coefficient can now be determined. The final step is to learn the muzzle velocity of the gun and multiply it by the ballistic coefficient.

Typically a 9 mm bullet shot out of a medium sized handgun will travel 2200 meters before it will fall to the ground. A bullet almost never travels this far before it actually hits something. So don't test this theory because chances are you will shoot someone or break something.

The Beretta was a fine gun in its day. But its day was 1970. It's true that some firearms are such classics is that they stay relevant for decades or even a century or more. But the Beretta ain't one of them. It's a big, heavy, clunky pistol with a horrible trigger. Earlier variants of the gun are regarded as slightly heavy, being an all metal gun. Around 2000 more polymer was introduced so it is now slightly lighter. It is over average weight. The M9 has suffered few engineering issues; It has been in production for many years and problems have been worked out. The design has been improved over time. It is not some new style weapon that is at risk of teething issues. Overall the M9 is as good as the rest of modern full frame combat or just semi automatic in general pistols. It is a solid pistol and will do pretty much anything you could reasonably ask of it.

If you look at the bigger picture is that neither gun has a total advantage over the other one, and your own preferences will play a lot in determining which handgun is for you.

Let me tell you a little secret that has never been told outside ammosexual gun nut circles before: Drum Roll.

The shotgun is the most awesome assault weapon. Far more effective than the AR-15 in closed quarters like a house.

A shotgun loaded with 00 buckshot is the equivalent of a gang of nine shooters armed with a 9mm handgun all pulling the trigger in sync at the same target. It's devastating.

And if budget is a concern, a Maverick 88 pump can be had for $200 as opposed to an AR-15 for over $800.
