what is the best control scheme / way to play on keyboard? im playing the story and I have to tap Y for a few parts where I need to use the mouse to click on stuff and its getting annoying + I also want to optimize for endgame

The Y thing is just like that. Its poorly implemented in the early-to-middle of the story, so you will just have to press Y and do it manually every time.
I also moved the Interact button to F
For gameplay, i moved my ult button to R, and then just keep playing on the layout of “mouse 1 attack, mouse 2 dodge”

I dont do this, but you can also do something like:
Orb 1: press 1
Orb 2: press 2
…
Orb 5: press Shift + 1
Orb 6: press Shift + 2
et cetera, if this is more comfortable for you
