Hello! I'm Willy, an intermediate artist. Me personally, I'm not great at gesture! But I think I'm pretty decent at anatomy and proportion, which might be the problem here.
How I see it, drawing the human figure has three backbones: Proportion (placement and scale of the form), Anatomy and form (geometry and 3d form), and Gesture (energy and flow of the figure).
I recommend you tackle them separately. For me personally, I've spent the most time studying proportion since in my opinion, learning the relationships of placement and size (proportion) is one of the most difficult things, and one of the most important things to make your drawings have a greater sense of realism. I've collected a set of tricks and personal practise routines! I can share them for sure!

Here's the last figure drawing I've made!
Gestures are supposed to be quick, loose drawings of a figure, anatomy doesn't really matter for those. For actual figure drawings, these aren't that bad. If you started today, they're not going to look perfect immediately.
What could help you with loosening up is gesture drawings. I suggest doing a lot of small gestures, timed for 1 min. The goal is to capture the movement, not to make sure anatomy is correct so it's more freeing. Line of action has timed figure study
