For 8 months this is genuinely impressive, you really worked hard !
You have a good grasp of cross-hatching.
Im not a pro at all but you could work on the head, the eyes are a bit too big (tho you can let them be if you prefer this way), the mouth looks flat on the 2nd head you drew (the one under the side view one), the ear is misplaced, it's too high and a bit far from the face
Imma show what I mean
The little rectangles are pupils
The eyes would be a bit like this
It's approximative and rough i think there's some parts inaccurate but it's just for you to get what I mean
Ohh i see
Thank you for fb sorry i replied late
I will work on facial anatomy for portraits
Hello, Im going to give you some feedback on your value ranges. I love the fact your working traditionally in ink!! shows confidence in your line work!! Your drawing of the city and knight are really awesome but they both suffer a bit from the fact that the values used in the drawings are too close in proximity masking some of the visual elements.
It took me several looks at the city drawingto realize you have some shards of alternate scene vignetts in the drawing. I literally was like Oh crap thats fantastic but so hard to read. Here is that drawing in grey scale, it show how that work is very monotone in value and remember value is not HUE (Color). Those vignets simply blend into the whole work.
I have also looked at your knight! Fantastic, but he suffers from the same aspect the values are too close and you lose the defenition on the highlights and shadows. when looked at in greyscale. I would recommend as you work on piece test some of the colors used by taking black and white pictures with your phone and see if you need push or pull values and determine if they are too close.
Use the white of your paper more for higlights and light, push those really dark elements darker in shadow, expand that value range.!
Your at that cusp of pushing your art to the next level!! Keep going, your now starting to touch on the hard stuff a lot of artists dont consider. That city scene is a fully realized work, edge to edge and fully rendered, a very nice job!!!
Do u have any advice/resources i could use for values then?
Thank u btw
