I also realized the perspective alone makes it so weird looking

I suggest for the background to add a lot or detail like windows and pollution or clouds , just anything to that fits the cyberpunk city theme and the buildings would need a 3d image right now there 2d which doesn’t fit in with the 3d foreground. Also the colors of the buildings are very similar so I’d suggest you pick colors that are more distinct since it looks more like the buildings are blending into eachother

The thing about this is that im struggling on imagining or thinking about how i would do the background with this

#

I was even thinking of changing the background itself and make it so that hes on the rooftop of a building inside the cyberpunk city

#

And i cant really think of another background other than cyberpunk, maybe i could use a bar themed background but this guy's character color scheme is mostly purple and black

#

So my only good option here is make the background be a cyberpunk themed city

#

Yet my main problem is how to do it

#

Would he be outside the city or inside the city

warm notch
#

I dont even know if im using vanishing points right

#

I think this red vanishing point was specifically only for the character

#

My brain is too clogged for ts

#

Ive never done backgrounds before

misty basin
#

It would depend on your focus of your piece, I found a few good references for how these kinds of buildings look like and I’d suggest you draw more buildings but in the back but more blunt with each building further back

#

Do u use procreate or what do you use to draw?

misty basin
#

I just thought of that: you could also use a small glich effect for the background to get more of that cyberpunk feel

warm notch
#

Never experimented with ibis fully

Looks good already, try to keep it simple and later add the colors to give the buildings details and depth, also you should add my be add stuff for example like signs on buildings, airconditioner, and railings onto of your buildings to make it feel lived in

#

Basically focus on making a scene believable and in this case lived in, try focusing on the fact that this is supposed to be a city in a cyberpunk world we’re people actually live in

Coloring Help

#

Now thats done, all i have to do is

#

Just probably color

#

But i dont really know what to color first, the background or the character

#

I decided to make a layer to put the gray color in

warm notch
#

Oh and i also have another problem, since i didn't remove the lines that the character blocks on the background, I had to make a new layer fill the character's full body and as for the background, i just change the canva's background itself

So basically if i remove the character's gray layer, it will look like this

misty basin
#

Its not that big of an issue if you have the lineare and gray color in a separate layer, everything will be colored anyway, and first I’d advise you to look on you characters colors and pick the background colors accordingly

So for example if your Charakter has purple hair you can only use purple in the background ones stuff which is further away from the character to not make the values blend in

You should pick colors according to the theme you looking for and it’s best to find a reference which you like in terms of colors

#

It doesn’t really mater what you do first but yeah I’d start with the character get the basic colors in no lighting and shading and then get the basic colors in for the background

#

You can also use different colors for lineart, it’ll help make the space more 3d since irl there aren’t any black outlines

@misty basin having a trouble picking the shadow color for the shirt

misty basin

The color you picked is already very dark, I think you can just brighten that color and then pick your current color as the shadow color
