I've been doing these value studies to improve and progress my art. What do you think? Lately, I've been getting confused when planning my week. I know it depends on many things, but I'd like to dedicate my drawing time to producing the best quality work possible. Any ideas on what I should do to improve my concept art for creature creation? Any help is welcome!

Hello! How does each study take ? I dont specialized in creatures but i do like drawing characters a lot, i think maybe you should try also getting confortable with drawing animals. What i mean by that is that your drawings are great but for the heads, it doesn't feel very confident.
Maybe try picking an animal per day and do plenty of different poses and give yourself a time limit
less focus on détails the and focus on the general aspect
As for the value studies, they look awesome but lack contrast, dont hesitate to add ambient occlusion
Oh just wanted to share my studies, they are more focused on color texture.
They're not great obviously but i try to give myself a timer to be more productive 😅
Anyways hope this could help a little and good luck on your journey ! ^_^
Thank you so much, I appreciate it. Your studies look fantastic; I always admire people who can produce such clean renders in such a short time, especially when it comes to hair, haha.
The problem is that I don't know how to organize myself; that is, I don't know which studies are "worth it" so that I feel like I'm improving and can apply them to my projects.
I struggle with that too! I've seen a video recently that says to just draw what you want and when you need to know or understand something in your piece than you can do studies to apply it

It's good advice i think ^_^
like studies help but it can easily be forgotten if you dont do anything to apply the things you learned after
Thank you ! the brush helps a lot lol
Can i ask, what you are working on at the moment ?
I'll watch the video tonight, thanks! I'm currently trying to improve my borders and value control for academic purposes, and for a more fun project, I'm developing creatures. For example, this week I made 30 arthropod silhouettes to choose four of them and develop them further, as if it were a simple study. When I finish, I'll do the same with amphibians, and so on. I'm also planning to develop a fictional ecosystem this month and try to make a panel of creatures that live in it (I got these planning ideas from some artists I follow).
I can show you if you want
