how do i find an artstyle LMAO

so i’m doing art in college. awesome! except my prof keeps (nicely) telling me i don’t have a consistent artstyle. not awesome :(

here’s various things i’ve drawn from october of last yr to now, and when i look at it all together, it’s real easy to see what he means. how do i “find” my artstyle? i know i want something semi-realistic & i’ve been looking at other people’s art and trying to determine what i want for months now, and i’m still not any closer.

if anyone has a preference for a style of mine or an artist who’s work you love and think i might also love, please lmk!!! literally any help is appreciated 🫶

So first off, dont feel bad for no fully consistent art style. Youre still figuring it out. I suggest looking at what you make and figure out what exactly you like about different ways you draw things. And then try and hash it together. You will need to make a conscious effort to make it look like theyre all the same style. Are the images youve shown ones youve shown your professor?

Also rn i kinda have two styles. My academic style, and my personal style. Im gradually trying to figure out how to combine them, but it is really not something that should be consciously worried about so much. Art styles really are just how you draw things. Your art style already exists. Youre just gradually uncovering it as you learn more technically, and about yourself as the artist

i'm not a pro, but i have also struggled with this, what i do is refrence my own art when im drawing and rendering :) i also have two styles, a painterly style and a more stylized one!!
