I've been on and off with anatomy for a month now. I tried studying, got bored, and stopped. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE drawing. But tackling anatomy 1. Seems like a struggle 2. Looks intimidating 3. What the HECK was I just looking at. I understand that you should try boxes and shapes but like... bro🥹 how do I apply it in simpler terms. In fact, HOW CAN I FIND SIMPLE TUTORIALS. I'm reallyyyy bad at following YouTube tutorials and copying pictures. Everything I draw is from my head. Please help!!

Proko has an amazing anatomy series. It is long, but he breaks down each part in their own videos. You need to treat it like a class. And i highly advise you watch it in order and do what he says at the end of each video as homework

Never listen to those tutorial that tells you to use "Head" method and doesn't explain clearly.

I spend decade trying to use the "head" method. It's just a terrible way to get the right body porpotion A_A_sobbing. Like they told me to use head, and never explain what is the perfect "head" size. Like seriously, some people make tutorial expecting we are at expert level already. You can try going outside or refrence game character, Arknight, Endfield, Genshin. If your aiming for realism art, then the best way is just look at your surrounding.

Its not u being bad at following tutorial, it's just most tutorial suck at tutorial.

#

Tutorial exists to share you method of how to draw stuff, you don't need to 100% follow it. Maybe you can try invent new way of drawing anatomy. Anything is possible.

#

Most short tutorial you find on YouTube are mostly "CnP (Copy n paste)" content unless you found a content creator with actual original source of tutorial, it is recommended to follow them. Because short YouTuber are just there for the content money A_A_pensive

this is not a tutorial list, this is a study method. Use this information to analyse, and recreate other limbs and body parts more naturally.

#

Try and imagine every limb or body part you want to draw, and try to imagine it as well as you possibly can before you start drawing.

#

When I was learning anatomy (up until now) I focused on making a 3d print of the subject in my head so much I genuinely developed an ethereal level of aphantasia lol.

No problem.

#

Here's the diagram for both skeleton and muscles of the legs, I suggest you use the links I sent before to try and imagine how each muscle group would connect to the bone and joints (and especially why)

#

Other than that

#

And as it's stated in the text above, if you're at an early stage of your art career, you shouldn't focus on anatomy instead form. Let me know if you want me to send you some material about Form art.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOUU!!

#

Whats the difference between anatomy and form? 🥹

#

Which one would you suggest someone to buy for their kid?

#

But in more detail, form is about the shape of an object, while anatomy is about the function, the engineering, the understanding and the perfection of a subject.
