Every time I try to draw a sketch, i always end up drawing it incredibly detailed. As if I’m drawing the lineart already. Does anyone have any tips to counter this. I would appreciate it a lot.

If you're using mechanical pencil, then you can make the tip really long and try not to break the tip, it helps with drawing more loosely.

A trick that digital artists use for this is using a thicker brush. You could try using a blunt pencil until you're ready to do more detail
