U wanna paint the 3d looking parts too?
The clay objects u mean,
?*
Or the details in the background
I wanna paint everything on there except the clay men, the feathers and string
Idk how to do the background thats my biggest concern
Ah okay thats easier then
Any help would be appreciated man this is for a final school project
What paint are you using?
Acrylic
Icic
I recommend using a sponge for the base layer (all the basic blotchy parts) leaving out the light and bright (for example eye and sun)areas, and layering using multiple shades of brown, nblack, dark blue, grey etc
Paying attention to make the parts darker that are darker in the painting for example the edges
Then once u have that u can carefully paint the eye, bird and sun (pre sketch those before eversthinf maybe)
yeah
Keep in mind its easier to make light parts dark than vice versa
My project is in 2 days would u say this is a realistic painting to paint
Uhhh if u manage to get the base done today, let it dry and also get the eye ,bjrd and sun done today youll have enough time to let it fully dry for orange and white highlights if u work with thin layers..
Could be risky and might end up a lil muddy
Yea that should work
so for the background, what should my first step be, i have never painted b4
Good luck🫡 lmk if i can be of any more help later
Get a sponge and slowly start layering thin layers of different dark hues
Pay attention to where its darker and where its lighter in the ref
So i dont use a brush?
Leave out the white and yellow oarts
Nah sponge is faster and will get u the texture
Yea?
When u are making the bg with the sponge, make it dark there with lighter parts in this⬇️ area, wait for it to dry and use a brush ti add details
Do u know how to mix colours
No but i can youtube it
Yea do that. Buy red, yellow,blue, black and white and learn how to mix using those
Or magenta,cyan,yellow
Thats more specific so look for these
Orange is good too if u have extra money cuz it can be annoying to get a vibrant orange
I recommend getting bigger paint tubes and nit small painting kits cuz this is a bug painting and working with a sponge will make that easier for u
Oh no yes ofc but just dont get those 5cm small tubes yk?
If u like painting i recommend getting actual tubes like pic 1 instead of tiny ones like 2, usually cheaper too
Alright
Ur asking the wrong person, not only do we not live in similar areas but prices where i live are crazy inflated xd
Damn
Check this out is this good
12 ml per tube
They seem too small. Ull use them up for a singular painting
I only need them for this
This is for a school project and the only time im painting
In a while
Immean better to be safe than sorry imo but u do u
Anw i must go cuz its really late here already but lmk if i can help u any more tmrw
Nah ill go with whatever u say
Goodluck
Alright
Thanks
@kindred mural
This is the thing
Idk how to make it
i suppose i have to start the background first right?
Yes background first but make sure you have everything lightly sketched out onto the canvas so you know where things are going to be
Alright so the eye and sun that would be
and how do i start the background what would be my first step
I have never painted b4
@somber crater
Im trynna paint thus
This
Under painting
Excluding the two clay guys feather and strings
Paint the entire canvas a solid color
Yes
You could but the perpuse of under painting is so the colors above it would be affected by the underpainting since colors aren't 100 percent opaque
So just pick a color the you think matches the mood you're good for
Im actually making this
Im here
Look il look for one of my paintigs
It will help my irl painting(
Here so look
My main issue is the background
Yeah
Maybe idk bro
That's crazy
I never painted b4
Oh
How
Bcz you can't erase mistakes
With brushes
Paining and drawing is to whole different things
I cant help you uh this one mb
I wouldnt make one since they are in a time crunch and also cuz the entire painting is grayish. The only colour is specifically laid on top as accents..
@flint ravine yo u awake?
Ye
Prolly not now eh
@flint ravine
Yo
This is an easier painting
How do i make the background without using a sponge
I dont got one
ah..
ig u could paint it normally with a brush and then add texture with a ball of kitchen paper or smthn
I got a kitchen sponge tho
Idk if they work
how do i make this with a brush btw? Whats my first step
After i sketvh the eye and sun
that works just keep in mind u cant use it for kitchen stuff later lol
mix a orangish brown and start dabbing it on the canvas except where the sun is. dab lightly and do it in thin layers
Wdym by when u say “do it in thin layers”
dont use a bunch of paint at once, use a little bit of paint and then itll build up
ok
I have a fee que
Few questions
So 1. Should i first sketch the sun and eye
- As you can see in the painting its split in half. One side is blackish one side is orangeish so with a pencil should i separate these parts
@flint ravine
- yes also sketch a line for the divide 2. since theres orange everywhere start with that and ignore the divide, then tape off the edge of the right side and add black to the left side only
@flint ravine
Hm?
Ur awake
That is some great news
For me
So uhm
So far
This is my progress
How am i doing so far
So this is supposed to be first layer?
also uhm, the eye and the sun do i not touch them at app
All*
If i make the entire canvas the background, is it possible to make eye and sun on top???
@flint ravine
sorry im asking s lot of questions
If u make it dark then no
Leave them white
How muvh soace should i leave around it
The eye for now isnt drawn accurately btw idk if thats a good thing to do
@flint ravine
Just leave enough space, my guy use ur own head i cant think for u
I am using it bro
