This might be the silliest thing i’ve ever asked advice for, but i’m in the process of rendering this piece, and so far, i’m pretty happy with how it’s turning out, except for the shading on her butt. This is pretty much my first time drawing without a solid reference, along with my first time ever playing around with lighting with a reference of any kind. So it’s a pretty big leap for me. And, like i said, I’m happy with my progress. Except for her butt, weirdly enough… i feel like it looks round the same way a sphere looks round, but not the way an actual butt looks anatomically? If that makes sense?

Are those meant to be jean shorts?
I still haven’t added in pockets yet, but yes 👍
Updated version:
i feel like the left leg doesn't connect properly to the hip. it's misaligned
Ah. I see…
I feel like the shape looks better than it did before now xd I still have to touch up on the fabric but overall i feel like that helped a lot! Thanks
Are they meant to be fitted? Usually short jeans are loose
And definitely not fitting into the butt crack
Some different styles of shorts to show what i mean
I see… i’m currently in the process of adding some cuffs to the bottom of her shorts so she doesn’t look butt naked anymore lmao
Im also realizing taking the time to find more references would’ve been beneficial as well….
When it comes to stuff youre not all that familiar with drawing, you should try and find references. And if you cant find one that works, make it. Take a photo of what youre trying to draw or something similar. Doesnt need to be exact. But at least similar
