#Lighting and scene feel off

I fear theres so much detail on the focal parts that the non detailed wall do seem “bare” so! Id reccomend adding objects to your two side tables, maybe a silhouette of a ceiling fan/light, smth possibly in the foreground or some dust particles. Also! Id make the light effect cast a little higher so it makes sense how lit up your subjects back is, if youd like me to red line that i can with ur permission.
When making a composition like this i tend to make my canvas smaller than the room i make in order to focalize my detail on a smaller space, however with some extra work you can always fully detail out a space🥰
Ahh, okay! I understand about extending the light beam upwards and the other details. Could you redline what you mean by dust particles though? Also, for the composition, would it be better if I cropped the image in some way? I've always struggled with composition in my pieces and can never get my subject in the right place. Thank you!
For composition it depends what youre going for, if u want the window its a little hard to crop however if we just care about the subject and the crosses on the wall its a little easier to crop
When i crop, i like to cut certain object partway through so it gives the illusion that the illustration is bigger than whats being shown (cause it is!) it helps the room feel bigger without having to draw a big room
This is the effect i mean by dust particles, you kinda do it i just was suggesting it as a kinda foreground effect where particles in the air reflect back light
I just used a place holder brush so theyre less sparatic then i would do, but! Smth where you use different sizes to show distance just to break up the detail every now and then
