Hi I'm Didi!! (please no more jokes with my nickname, there is nothing to do with that person) This is my diary, comments and critics are very much welcome!!

P.S. For context I drew for about 5 years without studying seriously, studied on tradicional after my old tablet broke and came back to digital ilustrations after a year. The ones on the banner are from about 2 years ago and I'm now trying to get the hand of digital art again while continuing tradicional studies!!

I'm gonna compile this year's studies now!

Since the year is ending and I'm so happy about how the first year I've really studied art seriously came out!! Since this channel exists, I'm going to use the rest of the evening to compile my studies here and show my progress!

Right at the beginning, after trying out several different things and watching many videos, I ended up finding a great method for observational studies, which was a PERFECT start to the rest of my studies (along with several videos explaining the fundamentals, art studies, etc., that I watched extensively at the beginning of the year, and the worksheets with straight lines and circles that I filled in while watching).

After looking at my old drawings, I realized that I almost never focused on the face, and after experimenting with drawing without reference, I realized that I definitely hadn't studied them enough. So I drew them in several different ways, watched videos about them, made a clay sculpture using a method similar to the Loomis method for drawing faces, and then applied it to some test drawings.

I spended about one or two months on this.

While I was doing all the other drawing studies, I also started some painting projects that I spent more time doing during the week.

This was all made over at least 3 months

After that I studied more about light and shadow and value using watercolor and graphite, so I could take a look over all the fundamentals.

So I finally started venturing into anatomy, gradually progressing from gesture to form.

I relied heavily on Proko's free course on human figure drawing and a LOT on Michael Mattesi's Q&A sessions about gesture, rhythm, and form, plus he talks a lot about lines, which is very helpful.

I studied color theory a little with watercolors, but I didn't have the money to buy watercolor paper, so I stopped there.

And more recently, after studying the theory of perspective, I started doing the "draw a box" exercises on boxes! I got some money back, so I bought about three books on perspective, which helped quite a bit, but the simplified anatomy books were my favorites.

So, I got a tablet! Before the perspective studies, actually, the two "draw a box" studies are from this week, but now I'm going to show you the digital art I made.

I started with more value studies, to be able to test various different brushes and delve deeper into the painting aspect, starting with simple shapes and progressing to more complex ones.

After that, I went straight into the anatomy section, following the methods I learned from Michael Mattesi's channel, which was much more practical to learn with the tablet.

I also had to gradually adjust the digital brushes to be able to create sketches the way they do.

And since I always put that aside, I started studying more about line art and drawing only with lines; it's something that was really preventing me from progressing. I'm still working on the last canvas. You can clearly see that I started to get frustrated on the second canvas and tried to draw using only values, BUT I STOPPED.

And here is my first original digital drawing after a very, very long time and the last one I finished yesterday. I finally managed to design an OC that I had after losing my old tablet, exactly as I imagined it!!!! I really love the painting style I had before my old tablet broke, and I hope to bring that back to my drawings next year, along with the discipline I've learned this year, and be able to do many more things that I couldn't do before!!!
