Hi after getting some tips to use greyscale before coloring I think i kind of get it but I feel like my lighting is a bit wrong so please point out the mistakes and also how to transition this into color.

Try to make a clear separation between the focal point and the background

#

like if u see here the light background contrasts well with a dark shadow on the character

remember one thing
if BG is dark focal point is light
if Focal point is dark Bg is light

Yes

thats simple i dont draw everything in one layer

#

so i saperate the character from the bg

#

then blur it out

Oh uhm I am not sure what this means but I did see the muscles be more defined and the rock be darker is that what I should do?

Because the more things are closer to the camera the more dark or blurry it gets

Ohhhhh

In this case it's dark because the background is light

If the background was dark then u can make them light
