So I think I been pretty well in anatomy and lineart, but I am sure I could do more to improve the quality. I am wondering what things I could work on so that I can practice more of?

Omg, you did a great job with anatomy and also into making it your own way. I don't thinl there's much to say about this drawing, the only thing I could point out is that you could make the chest pop up more on the left side, moving slightly (like creating a little curve) the piece of clothing

#

And if you wanted to go hard about it, you could also make the nails in his right foot more different from each other. Like, you can make the most centered nail be in a totally frontal position and then adjust the others from that one

Don't worry, you're welcome. But honestly, I really love the drawing it's very creative and original

Hii! Sorry if it seem a bit harsh but maybe it can give you some guidance on what you feel like you could work on more.
I think having some fundamental knowledge is handy, cus it can help you to break down things and make it easier for you to replicate the object you want to draw. With fundamental of shapes it can guide you to a sense of direction. For example giving the arm a cylinder shape creates a guideline for you to then easier map out how the clothing around the wrist would curve. Or make a box out of the hand, which side of the box would you see. Fundamental shapes also creates a sense of volume.

Observation is key, the longer you spend time at look on the ref image the more information you gain, by measuring, breaking things down, look at shapes, look at negative shapes (the shape around the object), look at sizes etc.
The longer you look at your own canvas the more you're drawing from imagination, in that way from your current knowledge (for example you know how your OC design is).
My old art teacher would set a timer to have us equally spend time looking at the object and the time drawing on canvas. Because most of us would burry our heads behind the canvas and rarely look up at the object (sculpture) xD

I was nitpicking a bit on measurement, but take it as a grain of salt, cus perhaps your OC has different anatomy measurement in a sense of charactersation. But I see you did create head size dot to measure height which is good! But question is, did you also do it on the ref? (cus when I try the 7th head reach the humans heel, while on your character it reached the toes. Though I might also be wrong).

I hope this helps you further on and sorry for wall of text. Cool character btw, you also captured the energy/vibe quite good!

Thank you for breaking down the issues. I will admit, i did felt like the torso for my character is a bit longer, which is why the legs seems short. I could elongate the legs instead since legs are usually longer than the torso right? For shapes, I will admit, I’m not really well rounded on shapes since I kept erasing it when I attempted it many times due to being on the wrong side, wrong perspective, too long, too short, etc. It just gets frustrating and I felt like I spend time on shapes than the character itself which is an issue I want to resolve, but I don’t know how sadly : (

Oh man. it hurts. Im going have to throw away and do a new one

actually nvm, I used head measurement on both and they are fine. I think the scale must have warped it somehow

# eager bane Thank you for breaking down the issues. I will admit, i did felt like the torso ...

In anatomy the [head + torso] is equally length with the legs (example of Da Vinci's human proportion piece). But in real life humans are different from each other, some has longer/short torso/legs/arm, etc. Which is why you can do it however you want for what seem right for you. As for shapes observe, and practice (trial and error), the more you do it the more you build up a muscle memory for it. Maybe break it down piece by piece so you don't get overwhelmed of a whole body, but do arm, legs, torso, neck, etc.

This is how I study [img2], cus having my first attempt visible I can then compare and adjust the shape of what I did previously... if that makes sense... but this is how I do it, everyone study/learn differently just need to find what fits you best so you don't get frustrated or burn out. Importantly have fun learning!

Dont throw it away! Keep it! I know it feels shit to spend a lot of time on a drawing, to then wake up one day and realize everything just look so off for you. But keep the drawing, you have already spent time on it and most importantly learn from it. If you throw it you cant learn from it....cus there's nothing to see 😔 Being able to see what's off is a good skill and gives you a guide to what you feel needs improvement on. I know some artist who is stuck at certain places cus either they never see whats off (been there) or they see whats off, but stops there, but keeps drawing, just doesn't do anything about it and therefore being stuck in the same cycle
