I tried alot to highlight everywhere, as you can see the light spots, should I use a different method to highlight? And should I redraw the badly done head shape along with its colour?
I think if you just made the chin wider and the entire face less round it will look better
As for shading, id look up the asaro head and a video on how to render faces.
Okay, I'll get to it right quick, thank you very much❤️
The issue isnt highlights its a lack of midtones between highlight and dark areas that makes if feel off visually.
Also the darker one is so dark that it reduces the values of the entire image to the eye even more on top of the desaturation filter you are using, i would concider using a lighter value as your blackpoint.
there is too much going on in the painting
you dont have a real foreground, middle or background and you put texture and details on everything
also you dont use a defined light source
a dark character against a dark background is also problematic because he cant stand out
also all your colors have nearly the same value
it can also help to blur the foreground a bit to create some depth 🙂
I see, I'll get to adding a middle shade, I used an eraser and erased the dark page exactly on the light areas which is probably why there's too big of a difference
I see the problem with the same value colours now that you mentioned it, I got carried away in detailing everything the same way
Thank you everyone for your guidance, I will make sure I attend to fix them 🙏
