Above is the Original
Down is the flipped
I don't aim for realism I want something stylized or cartonish and look right
If anyone noticed mistake when flipped please point out
Or has better method to draw certain part of the face
Also ping me when you reply
So, firstly, the end of the forehead and the beginning of the nose are too down
the volume of the forehead you align with the eyebrow and start of the nose you align with the eye
the chin is also very small and the ear should be in the middle of the head
I drew a little above so you can see
but you obviously do as you like fit because you want something stylized @ocean sequoia
I tried not to change too much from the original
Thx but there limit to what look stylized and what look wrong
I'll try to adjust it
Also I am kinda trying different methods to draw the face. If you have one or like to suggest something then please do
Art has no rules and you do as you see fit, Yyou use what suits your style
Your draw is good, maybe just change it a little and it will fit what you want 🙂
hmm, for stylized I just use this as a base, a circle and cut it in half
defining where the ear will be
Otherwise, I play with the proportions, making them very cartoonish (like in this quick drawing)
I think there are very good tutorials about it, I'll see if I can find it
Do you have more examples of stylized the way you want to learn?
The ear is the defining point?
Like it the first thing you draw after the base
Practice with real references first - you need to know the rules before you can break them (exaggerate, stylise); when you break your references down into shapes, you'll be able to see the base shapes that make up the head/side profile.
At the moment what sticks out to me is that the face is very flat save for the nose and a bit of the lips
That is incorrect. There are rules. However in order to stylize, you need to learn the rules before you break them
not really, but ok
If it's for realism, ok, but for what he wants, I don't think so.
Yes really. In order to stylize you need to understand the body in reality or else its not really stylizing. Even super simplified styles like steven universe or gravity falls. They still had to learn realistic bodies aka the rules, before they could truly stylize it
Yep
And mostly what I end up getting wrong in my drawing is the proportion
Thx I will try that when I get back from college
And I think i used these photos as reference for the base
So I am back and finished 2 faces
I used @vocal latch method on both of them
The second one I used @silk spire pic as reference even though it the same picture. idk why I did that
I do practice with real reference but I don't think I learn or maybe I do but too dumb too notice
This was 3 or 4 days ago
Both of the pictures proportion feel off or wrong
I tried to get the proportion right as close as possible but couldn't
I recommend watching proko’s facial anatomy series on YouTube. He helps explain the structure and makes it easier to understand and remember why each part is shaped the way it is
I will try that later and report what I understand
You dont need to report anything. Just apply it to your drawings
I was joking. But I have to cuz i am kinda just copy what I see in and unable to understand it . It like magic . You see wizard do magic spell. The wizard explain how it done it and you still unable to get it
Youd be surprised how well he explains it
