So I wanna make character art, but I'm pretty much a beginner, I can draw what I want from my head sometimes, but I need to be pointed in the right direction and I need structure in my learning.

I'm willing to learn anything and I eventually want to get good enough at character art so I can do environments and backgrounds and so on.

Here's something I made a week ago just as a general reference to where I'm kinda at rn

Any advice would help thank you!

Here are some examples of where I'd want to go generally

Your on the right track your doing good what I would suggest is try working on semi realism to achieve the pictures you provided. Try working with poses and body proportions first that would give you a good idea of how you want the body in different angles/poses etc. once you get that done then you could move onto clothing I suggest you use references to see how the clothes take form of the body or how they lay on it, you also wanna figure out where the creases should be placed when drawing them while keeping in mind with the shadows and where they are placed.

Other then that your doing good

I’ll send some artists I follow who do semi realism and realism you can study their art work

Would you suggest I try and tackle anatomy and gesture as well since I know absolutely nothing about that either, and if yes what order would you say helps the best

This guy on instagram @Masaroarts breaks down different artists in great details including semi realism

#

This creator @y_a_o_t_l also is an example of how clothes/poses and body types would look like

#

#

@zzrena.0 is a good example of lighting control with semi realism
