Readability improvement

How would I go about improving the readability and clarity of this painting?

Right now it’s the final stage so I can’t change any major things like position of hands etc, is there any improvement to clarity that you can think of please tell me. Thanks in advance.

My thought is, I should improve the value contrast of the circled parts first. Does that help? What else?

With that he said there seems to be a strong light stove on the right so you can try to add darker shadows

I didnt notice she was in water until the person above said it. I think you should add ripples on her from the light yknow, like water

Tried something out by darkening the surrounding water a bit and using light rays to create a “focus zone” on the characters eyes, I’ve also adjusted some contrast using curves in procreate. It’s just an idea. Let me know what you think!

I like the idea, I’ll try this next time because I’ve reached somewhat a place I’m happy with with the current iteration. Thanks for your help, it’s a very good fix.
