#Dress shirt folds

i tried a lil paintover, bascially start using more solid shapes (establish big shadow shapes) and since you mentioned a dress shirt as the ref, the cuff is usually more prominent, and the overall sleeve shape is more slim
also harder brush shapes/strokes give a more sleek/sharp look (esp when used with the blue rim light)
as for the paintover itself i just did
- big main shadow (left)
- big 2nd shadow (right)
- smaller midtone within lit areas (middle)
- rim light (blue)
- check values and darken/lighten where needed to push contrast
I should've probably mentioned it but the sleeve is supposed to be puffy kinda like those older dress shirts 😅
That's kinda the main thing that's messing me up
Could this still work? Just in a different shape?
Or should it be more airy and less sharp?
ofc, puffy just changes the silhouette, the sharper folds are caused by the material of the shirt, not the shape
so the overall shape willl be puffy, but some sharp parts in the silhouette help to sell it
Okay okay
i didn't really change much from the original paintover, just add loop folds coming from the cuff (all that extra fabric has to go somewhere so they loop and stitch it into the cuff, making those folds)
I'll try to keep all of this in mind when repainting it
Thank you very much 😭 ❤️
