Girl.... Ur so good why are u even talking... Am a 2y artist am so stunned rn
I feel like it looks stiff cause you have one big chunk of hair that isn't as flowy as the other
I couldn't really find a way to make it flow well though
It's kinda like a large chunk so in my mind it doesn't really mesh well
Might have to do with the general motion of the face. Since the character is moving to the left due to inertia the hair 'goes' to the right. That chunk of hair sort of looks like it's just... sitting there rather than moving. You could raise it up (like how a flap might) or change the bottom to curve a bit to the left. I'm talking about the chunk of hair that didn't look as flowy. Beyond that it's just missing a lot of the details that will get added as you go further into the piece
What they said ⬆️
Im lowkey struggling with that detail aspect since I cannot properly shade hair for the life of me
Details
No bueno
I made like a step by step image on how I shade hair if you wanna see it?
Sure
Ok so your hair is split into chunks and everything right? Based on these chunks, add basic shadows that will be visible even in darker areas (So for example, if multiple chunks overlap over one, that one chunk is gonna have an occlusion shadow, if one chunk is over another the higher chunk is gonna cast a cast shadow, etc). If you have an intense light source just add the big shadows created by it over the shadows separating the chunks in a multiply layer or something (Though if the light/shadow effect is REALLY strong you might want to make the dark part of the hair just one big dark shape). After that, use a slightly darker colour and add it to the bottom and the top of each hair chunk to give it a 3D look. Finally, depending on the light source add highlights on the lighter part of the chunk chunk.
This is a really simple explanation though
Alrighty
I changed the curve of the hair more up
Your tutorial gave me an idea for the top of the head to make it less naked looking
The issue here is that your hair is just a gradient, there's no separation of hair strands.
Also the left side of her head looks like it lacks hair altogether. There should be the hair that goes down to your ear over there
This area
ill fix that
Does this make sense?
yeah. Youre basically saying that my hiar is basically undefined clumps mostly
Mhm, there need to be strands which you'd define in darker colours
ill work on it
