Art is a major part of my life and has shaped who I am today, however for the past months even while my art has improved I still hate it. I am always looking for tutorials, at other people’s art, books even but still everytime I open a drawing app I just hate it, and don’t even get me started on the way I render. My thought process while drawing is hell too, it’s like someone telling me things like “oh your using liquify tool? Don’t you know that makes you a worse artist? Just redraw it instead.” “Why aren’t your lines confident? You’re almost chicken scratching, that makes you bad and it’s gonna stunt you later” “why’s your art so soulless looking? Why’re you using that color? Why’re you drawing that hair like that?” It’s so painful and it just fills my head constantly, even while listening to music. I can’t make it fun either. I always draw to improve, even just a little bit

Honestly, it seems like this is something only you can really work through.

From my perspective—and I’m still pretty new, so take this with a grain of salt—your work looks genuinely great. If I had to point something out, maybe just keep refining proportions. But considering how much time and practice you’ve clearly put in, it’s impressive.

One thing that might help is letting go of the idea that certain tools “make you a worse artist.” From what I’ve seen and heard, it’s all about using whatever helps you grow. If it supports your improvement, then it’s valid.

Maybe take a step back and reconnect with whatever first inspired you to create—whether it’s art, stories, music, or just a feeling. Sometimes going back to the source can help you find your footing again.

But hey, these are just the thoughts of a fellow beginner trying to offer some support. I hope you rediscover what you’re looking for soon. You’ve definitely got something here.

Heres what i recommend. Analyze what exactly it is youre not liking about art anymore. Be specific. Youll need to experiment and mess around with things. Also, dont listen to people who are saying things that drag you down. Theyre not really helping. And i think the messiness isnt chicken scratchy. I look at it and see deliberate mess

You're adapting, I was stuck exactly where U were a few years back, and I promise you if you keep practicing and learning for just a little bit more you will have another breakthrough.

But if you don't like drawing.... Don't draw. It's like a factory reset, don't draw for a long time then eventually you'd like tos tart again, then you will find (for some reason) Ur better than before.. by a lot.

While youre taking a break from drawing^

I suggest doing smth like making a pinterest board where you save art you REALLY LIKE, dont analyze it, just save it. And then when you get ready to draw again look at what youve saved look at what connects the peices and see what looks FUN to draw what would bring YOU joy. If doing chickenscratch is FUN and PRETTY to you THEN DO IT! Have fun with what you do and choose what you do based on having fun
