Hello! This is not meant to be a super sad question or anything, but recently I have been looking back at all of my art and have seen how little I actually enjoyed creating my pieces.

It was always for (quite selfishly) attention, or good grades (in art class), or maybe a friend asked me to draw something. I have learned a lot about art, but I don’t think I ever enjoyed it? I always just directly copy the image my teacher or friends asked me to draw. I feel really lost and when I sat down recently and asked myself: What do I want to make for me? And my answer was: No clue💀

I don’t know if I should quit art or take a long break because I really am not creative at all. Please give advice!

i think this is a question for yourself to answer, but i think if you dont enjoy the process of making art and the end result then theres no point to making it. art is supposed to be something you love. not just the end result but the whole process of making a piece and learning how to draw
but if you dont hate making it either, then you could make commissions or prints and make some extra money off that 🤷

or you can learn how to make art for your own enjoyment and not the validation of others

If someone doest like cooking, they shouldnt be a chef. If someone doesnt like medical research and treatments, they shouldnt be a doctor or nurse. If someone doesnt like singing or playing instruments they shouldnt be a music artist. If someone doesnt like to draw, they shouldnt draw. Theres nothing saying you have to. If you dont want to, dont do it outside of required scenarios (obviously you need to draw if you have homework assignments saying for you to draw). theres definitely something out there for you that youll enjoy doing. You just need to go out and find it. Explore and experiment to see what you may find fun. Its possible that while you dont like drawing, maybe youll like knitting or crocheting. Maybe youll like embroidery. I guarantee youll find it. You just have to search
