#Is this cubism?

Well, I would say grab a bunch of references for cubism and categorize them into a mood you like the most. Or elements you would want to incorporate.
Here's a couple of Picasso pieces that I really love.
Here's la femme au cheval by Jean Metzinger, another one I love too.
See how simple the faces are? Now its up to you how far you want to detail the face. You can break the face up into abstract shapes and keep some facial elements (Think of the planes of the face maybe). Or Just completely abstract the face itself.
Its all about showing structure of objects without completely relying on grounded techniques like perspective.
Thanks for the advice I really appreciate it, tho the thing is, my teacher explicitly told us to make the face "recognizeable". We had to choose a person and mow I'm not so sure how to do that... If you could help me firther I'd really appreciate it ❤️
Did your teacher give you an example of how recogniseable? I will say that a lot of these pieces have "recogniseable" faces.
The only thing is that in the nature of cubism it's not super detailed, like there are general shapes of a persons face, but you don't know exactly who it is. There still is character and emotion in it.
When you look at the pieces I posted your eye is still drawn to the persons face because our brains are wired to recognise faces.
I hoenstly think if your piece is able to draw someones eye to the face instantly, it'll be okay.
Think about movement of the eye and how we recognize people, movement or posture. Shoulders, legs, the general outline and/or flow of something.
That's genuinely like the best advice I've ever gotte Tysm ‼️❤️
So would you say I should delete some of the details of the face? Or continue :)
Honestly its up to you. If you have time and want to sure, pursue it. Or maybe you can partly erase it and do it from there or abstract the parts you haven't finished.
Alright ty ❤️
I once read that the whole idea of cubism is to see all sides at once. I think to make the face most recognizable, study the reference, and then break it down into really simple shapes
cubism jst really confuses me tbh 🥲
