I just tried by best to copy the lines from the reference with a ruler and everything but it's just not working. I told myself not to worry and to just try to power through and this is how it turned out. What i'm trying to do isn't even difficult, this is as simple as can be but it still went terribly. What was I supposed to do instead?
#Where am I going wrong here?

Ah, I think it’ll help a lot if you try to find the vanishing point from the reference picture
It’ll also help to just draw what you see and not what you think you see.
Draw it face value and don’t try to think “oh this is a chair so I think it should look like this judging from the ref”
Just think of it as lines you have to follow
I’ll show you what I mean
Don’t mind my messing lines lol
The lines come from a vanishing point and I think it’ll help you visualize how the bench is positioned in space
How am i supposed to establish a vanishing point when starting a drawing?
For a vanishing point, for this specific example of drawing a bench you can just put a dot anywhere on the paper but just have room to the left side so you can draw your actual bench
If you want to learn perspective, I’d recommend you watch some yt videos on one-point perspective and two-point perspective
They will help you get a visualization of how objects lie in space
Think about the big over all shape and you can carve out of it to get a bit more accurate to make what you want
