#Is the likeness passable?

What reference have you been using?
Oh yes I completely forgot give me a momeeeent
(Btw I've picked up that the hand is smaller and more bellow than the reference but I'm focusing on the facial proportions first)
Oh and to preface I'm not really for the grid method with these reference studies I'm practicing getting the likeness with eyeballing so what I mainly care about is the likeness and not really a 1:1 accuracy
Although I can pick up on the fact his nose needs to be tilted more to the right and that his head be expanded more to the left I definitely need help with the facial features 🤔
Honestly it’s passable. If face likeness is choice then I think it looks good. 👍
Tweaked some things I think it looks a bit better now
These last corrections were done in a rush so I'll refine them later but I think I'm OK with it right now
I really do care above all about whether or not Freddie's recognizable but i would greatly appreciate it if there was any area that's more obviously disproportionate or looks odd and yall would tell me! However if there really isn't such an area then I'll leave it alone as it is. The last thing I like doing is overworking my artworks and them looking all muddy and messy afterwards!
Oh dammit I still didn't rotate the nose enough 😂 that one is a tricky area
This is really good, and really close in likeness! A few quick suggestions:
- The nose in your drawing is a little big and too long. The angle of the bridge of the nose is also a little off (you commented on this while I was typing! 😄).
- The chin is a little small in your drawing. When I look at the ref, the smallness of the nose and the bigness of the chin stand out to me
- Given the two above, you may be able to just shift the mouth and nose up a bit, then adjust the angle of the bridge of the nose.
- The left of the jaw could be just a bit wider (his right, our left)
- There's really wonderful angle at the top left of his head. When I think of Freddy without looking at your reference, I think of this angularity. Along those lines, check the angle between the glabella (the point between the eyebrows) and the center bottom of the chin. There's a slight thrust forward to his chin. You have it a little, but I think it could go a little more.
Extremely helpful points that I feel I can apply to the drawing! Thank you so much for your time! You pointed out a lot of things that I subconsciously took notes of upon observing the reference and made them very clear on how to handle them. I'll try to apply the changes to the best of my ability! Thanks a ton again! 😆✨️✨️
