Hello, i've started drawing like 1-2 weeks ago and i finally got myself a first sketch that i think deserves more love and i want to start learning the coloring/rendering part on it but i seem to be unable to figure it out, i've tried a few videos on youtube but most of them were rendering on a different style than i have in mind for my character.

I feel like the sketch looks amazing but when i colored it kinda looks bad for me and i don't really know how to render it cause i am sure trusting the procces might just be the thing right now

also the rendered photo is what i was thinking of achieving rendering wise

Might want to use a harder brush than I did but I just blocked in the shadows with a multiply layer and used a screen layer with the color of the skin/hair for high lights. Hope this helps nikki_heart

thanks, it does help a lot, i have only two questions

  1. how do u blur only certain small spots
  2. how to make small gradient areas like in this photo, cause i've tried marking around with lasso tool and then using soft eraser but i can't seem to get close results to this
