Contrast is what its missing. Create a layer „linear darkening” (or something like that, depends on the program) and make the shadows
Its going to force your colors to be dark and you can always lower it by reducing opacity
I would also make a big, blurred dot behind her to show depth behing her
Great drawing overall

Can I redline over it?
Of course!!
You dont need to follow the right one, cause you didn’t make her hand position exactly like the ref, but they still look properly
But her right one needs to move closer to the face
THANK YOU SO MUCHHHH no wonder she looks so off 😭 🙏
Ur welcome, byeeee
hey just came to say i freaking love flash lighting in artwork i think it always looks surreal and i love it so much ok byeee
Update: I've tried adding some contrast and blurring the background so her face would be more focused! And I think it does look better thank you again for the tips!!
AWW THANK YOUUU
Much better!!! I love it 😍
Yippeeee
were you trying to recreate the ref one for one?
That's the plan but I just can't seem to get the pose right
u mind i use the image u sent to help?
Omg yes plsss be my guess
alright uh
corrected quite a bit
but i do think it looks more like the ref now
gottta give me a sec to type ts out
- shifted right side elbow to match the angle of the ref
- notice that the face is actually not facing the cam, but slightly skewed to the right, so just reduce the rightside eye size by a little, and make her look at the camera, and shift nose and mouth to match the skewed face angle
- when you're laying down and resting on your elbows, your shoulder will always be raised more than usual (to compensate for weight)
- after seeing the elbow angle, you can now use that to see how the body would rest (2nd image)
- lastly, tilt the bg/whole piece to match the energy and tilt of the ref image

OH MY GOD THIS LOOKS SO GOOD IN FACT IN LOOK SO MUCH BETTER thank you so muchhhh I've learned a lot!!!
Omg seriously thank you
i think the one thing that affected it the most is u gotta pay more attention to the ref fam
50% of my correction was just me painting according to the ref image LMAO
stuff like where the hand is placed in relation to her face
always compare the location of a thing to another, like how her body (in the ref) starts at the shoulders
didnt see that didnt ya
this stuff may not always be important for loose refs, but are VERY impt when your doing a difficlt angle or a study
good luck in future endeavors op
