#Too stiff, help

love this so far!! for clarification, are you talking about the figure at the top or the bottom?
I think both are a bit too stiff but the one from the top is far too much
I’m fine with the expressions, more like the poses yes
Also the art doesn’t look “fluid”
Idk if you get what I mean
It was meant to be something like: the top one holds a plate containing the bottom head
OHH im so dumb i thought you just hadnt drawn the bottom half of the bottom character yet
ok i think i see what you mean now
do you have a more zoomed out photo of the full sketch? or is this the full piece
One sec
take your time
thats perfect!! thank you
do you mind if i redline a little?
Feel free to:)
Do you need the character’s designs too? Idk to make the comprehension easier?
no need!! but thank you for the offer
heres an idea for what you could try to do!! i didnt get a chance to draw the arms because im about to leave for something and didnt have the time but i wrote some notes on what you could try to do
you could also try bringing the plate a little farther away from her chest so theres a clearer sillhouete of what shes holding
sure!! just be sure to ping me so i dont forget to check
overall your piece is coming along really nicely so far, the expression of the lady on the top in particular is really well done
shes so spooky...
Enlwbaljslsjskshsk it was meant to be some dark romance stuff (she really is)
There's a lot of nice stuff in this! Watch the concave lines. Unless you're stylizing, try to turn all concave lines into a series of convex lines. The human body is always pushing out from the center. If you are stylizing, use a mix of straight, convex and concave lines. Currently on the body it's mostly concave lines, which will definitely make things look stiff
You mean the red lines you made there are the concave or convex lines? Sorry got a bit confused there
More like the red or blue?
And wdym by stylizing? The design of the character? If their clothes are “spikey”? If I’m correcting mistakes?

Totally normal to be confused! I mix them up all the time, as do most of my students 😄. In your drawing, the blue lines are convex. It's not so important to remember the word, but it's important to remember things are pushing out from the center. Humans are kind of like a bunch of water balloons attached to sticks 😄
(Also, what a great way to ask the question with the little red and blue shapes. Clever & resourceful! ❤️)
Oh I understand it now
I think I got a bit confused because of this character design in general
She’s very “spikey” if you get me
Oh, totally! But if you look closely, there are very few concave lines even with all the spikiness. It's mostly straight or slightly convex lines, and a few concave lines here and there. Very tastefully done
If you're drawing perfectly realistically, you would use almost all convex lines and a few straight lines here or there, and barely any concave lines. But you don't have to do it that way! You can choose to make some straighter, or add some concave lines because it looks cool. If you choose to do that, you're stylizing. And you can stylize a little or a lot
But I like your drawing so far! Keep going.
