You should focus on gestures and simple shapes first

Thanks yall, I'll be back after I check all these videos out
Started with the gesture today and definitely did something lmao
I had no idea what I was doing at first but I think I figured it out a little
Lmk if there's anything else I can try/do
You are doing well
This is the best way to start
For warm up before you start drawing fill up some pages with circles and straight lines
Don't forget to use your whole arm instead of your wrist
So your lines look better
Did some more
A little sketch just to fill in a page
You think I'm good to start trying something else or should I keep focusing on gesture?
Also wanna try to draw this... if I can
Be free to do what you want, focusing on one specific subject for a long time ain't that good
Remember to have fun in what you're doing
You can always go back and practice gesture when you feel like it
Say less
Learning 3d shapes, that's all 🐧
Nice
Instead of trying to draw one perfect line (circle) it's better to go over it a few times
Something like this
Mmm alright , it feels weird doing that for small circles gotta get used to it
Gonna scrap this attempt but is there any tips for when I try next time?
The proportions on the right leg and the foreshortening on the left leg
Is better if you ignore foreshortened references as a beginner
Definitely
This better? something feels off
Are u new to art ?
I think this looks really good! What I’d suggest to you instead of making a more refined sketch straight off the back, try a rough draft of all the basic shapes of that compose the body and pose instead of trying to do everything at once :D
I can’t really see any erased lines so I assume you haven’t done the basic shapes and just went in drawing the body with the clothes instead of mapping everything out which is SUPPERR hard skill
After the rough basic shapes that make up the body THEN you’d go in refining and fine tuning the body(obviously not TOO much on the parts you’ll end up covering up)
keep up the good work!
Yeah I did that😭 appreciate the advice, Ima try it out real quick
ofc, I’m sorry I couldn’t tell, I’m a little blind lol!
You're good, I'm a little messy with my art
Naw, I'm just never learned how to actually draw, so my art is hit or miss with references
This better to continue ??😭🤞
I'll wait for further advice before I continue 🫡
Is it just me or is the too head big?
It is ngl
This background beating my ass😭😭😭
All I can say is always do your lineart on the character first
Idk why but it just works
Also you are cooking🔥🔥🔥
Thanks a lot big bro
Looking pretty good!
The perspective is off with some of the buildings though
Which ones would you fix? I feel like the far right is definitely the worst but idk about the others
Oh yeah, fix the car front window. The upper left corner is Angled higher
Good work, but this building is a little off
Damn😭😭😭
Tomorrow I'll colors It and see if it's worth keeping
Appreciate you all tho
Keep all your drawings
Never throw them out
You're making great progress
How do you break things into shapes like that @half verge
Looked at the reference and broke the body into simple shapes (head to circle, arms to rectangles, hoodie into squares)
If that's what you're asking
Finally Finished 😌
Now onto the next🫡
Appreciate everyone who gave tips and looked out
Ummm shooting wayy over my head again but wanna see if I can get this done
Feel like the first attempt wasn't terrible just need to do the lower half next time
And I swear after this I'll start actually studying again 😭😭😭
Looks amazing, only thing that can improve it is aching slight gesture to the muscles
Feel like this one is better just can't figure out the fingers
You know if people didnt see the progress picks they'd assume you're tracing the artwork lop
Great work.
Damn that's really nice, ty
I'm locked tf in😤
Looks amazing, but one thing that can improve it even mroe

I learned line weight recently but I didn't know where to apply it to this piece since there is a whole Lotta lines
What do you think?
Use heavy lines to indicate movement, The more energy being used, the heavier the line, for example if someone is kicking a ball, the front side of the line art on their leg would be heavier than the back, and if someone is throwing a punch, their fist would be thicker than their arm,
Another way you could use line weight is to signify weight, the more weight being ut in an uneven balance (aka its gonna fall over id it's not supported) you will indicate that part with a heavier line work.
It really depends on the message you're trying to deliver
If you'd like I can red line your work and show you where if put it.
If you don't mind, cause I'm really trying not to mess this one up😭🙏
I'll do it when I have more than 3% charge just bare with me lol
I don't suggest copying this, instead learning the concept of it, but here's a rough idea on how I would do it.
@half verge
Appreciate it a lot
Think I understand it now, whenever I was doing line weight previously i ws just randomly thinking up lines
A lot better, thanks
Personally I wouldn't ink the buildings.
Cos otherwise there wouldn't be much contrast between the character na dthe back ground.
Say less, I'm tired of these diagonal buildings I somehow keep doing
Loll
Something light 🐧
Didn't have a bright green so this'll have to do
Hello Mythical, we love to see the progress you've made in such a short amount of time. Keep up the good work! That being said, the purpose of the Art-Help Forum is to provide answers to a specific question or problem. This is reflected in the tag system associated with the Art-help Forum posts. As others have suggested here, we recommend compiling all of your files/images into a single location/folder for organization and ease of access - this approach could serve as an Art Journal/Diary and be beneficial to you.
To reiterate, the Art-help Forum is not intended to serve evolving questions across multiple pieces as they will eventually deviate greatly from the original issue. However, please feel free to create a new question for pieces utilizing the tag system. In this way, you'll benefit the most from the Art-help Forum system by ensuring the appropriate tags are aligned with your current problem.
You can also make a post in #1275265244435845220 if you wish to
I just read through this thread and wow dude. This is fantastic progress you should be super proud of yourself ^^
Appreciate you big bro
Damn, so after this drawing I was planning on continuing to learn other fundamentals such as anatomy, ect and just posting progress day by day and asking questions if I have any (as I was doing earlier) is that cool to continue here or should I do it in the journal area?
I Advise for you to make a new post per piece to keep people from offering advice on a piece you finished 5 months ago and not even what youre working on. If youre wanting to simply be giving updates on what youre working on we’d love to see it over on #1275265244435845220 you also can post on both places. Only restrictions are 1 follow the rules of the server, and 2 not to make a new post each time you want to update (we will delete duplicate posts)
If you end up making new posts @ me and I'll see what I can help out with
