#Is my shading okay?

I tried soft shading+Cel shading
Though I think my base colors are too dark
And I rely on Overlay and Airbrush
Here's without shading and highlights
The base colours are fine, it's just that the shadows aren't really visible. Saturate and darken the base color slightly for a good shadow colour
It would also be appealing if the light source had a bit of colour, very light and unsaturated
I'm trying soft lighting
What color do you recommend for the highlights?
I mostly notice blue when I look at it, so complimentary colour like orange would do
The more saturated shadows look more nice
Not using the multiply blending mode made the colors pop
Or do you recommend multiply
It makes the shading less saturated though
Is this better?
if you want to add more depth you can make more shadow on the pants and use highlight
Oh thanks!
Do you really need highlights? I mean in an environment sometimes there is no highlight because light is spread evenly
you always need it. there is always points with more light
Can subtle highlights work?
most of the time yeah
I guess in your environment since light is spead out
Depends on texture
highlight from the bottom up because it would reflect from the floor
yeah..
am not a birds guy i do human sketches 🙃
Does skin rarely have defined hilights
Especially in spread out light
But has defined hilights if met with hard light
Or am I tripping
it depends on the art style, usually feathers dont have highlights but it can make the drawing pop
nah you are right, it depends on light and how much exaggeration do you want ur drawing to be
Thank you for your help
