#feels weird

The person in the front, im guessing the intention for the characters to be looking at eachother, in that case the person at the front should have their sheek/face showing a bit. Maybe thats why it feels off? 🤔
How is this?
to me the thing that looks the most off would be the throat. its too far forward and like merges with the chin
like this looks considerably better to me
hope that helps
Check the angle of the features. I think the mouth and eyes might be on very different axes.
It's sort of a mix of the two angles to create the eye angle, the eye is to the side a bit and also upwards a bit, so it's more of a perspective thing
Agree with this. @heavy shard just be aware that this particular solution would make the different in angles between the mouth and eyes more extreme. So you'd want to adjust the mouth for sure if you go this route.
ooouuu please consider doing some lineweight experimenting, trying making the lines thicker with parts that come closer to the “camera”. I feel like that would really elevate this
With a similar/same lineweight throughout the whole piece it appears “flat” and if you just give it that extra flare it’ll make it pop out and give more depth to it
changed the throat, better?
does that mean that the guidelines are supposed to be parallel?
In general, yes. There may be subtle perspective happening, but it tends to be more noticeable on large objects. Here it would be parallel or very close. And of course, the features may not align to the guide lines exactly. For example, mouths can be asymetrical, as can eyebrows. But if there's asymmetry, you want to be really clear and deliberate about it. In this particular image, I don't read the mouth as assymetrical.
so do i just have to change the angle of the mouth a little to fix it?
i adjusted it, how’s this?
like this?
Yeah
ty ^^
my fully rendered art style doesn’t focus on lineart as much if that kinda makes sense? this is js a semi-recent example, i use it more for coloring guidelines if ykwim its hard to explain
but like i kinda have plans on making a webtoon so for that and like drawings like this i feel like that would apply more?
so would that kinda look smth like this? (not actually gna apply it to the final render but i’m js using this as an example)
Yeah, definitely a little something like that but I’d say probably more exaggerated. When you said line art I thought you meant like it would be used in the final product! Your fully rendered style is gorgeous btw!! ❤️❤️
I’m pretty heavy handed with my lineart so I guess I just saw it another way lolol :D
tyyyy 🥺💕yeah i also saw that u have a cartoony style so i totally get what u mean
ur drawings are amazing btw
I changed the angle of the mouth a bit
Looks better!
thank you ^^
AHH tysm <33 you too
It looks so good, it's pretty nice improvement from the first post
