So far, im jusr not sure how to approch drawing his Ear detail
Hi! I'd love to help you. Can I have some context for the lighting? Like, where is the character and where's the lighting mainly coming from? That way it'll be easier for me to help. Thanks!
The Lighting is coming corners, this is a scence from GT Where UUB is about save Pan im using this scence to draw in my Dokkan battle fan animation but im having real trouble with drawing the inner ear detail and shading
I see, I see
Well first here is a chart for the highest and lowest points of the ear (highest is red, midway is orange and lowest is green)
This way you can see where lighting hits the most (a.k.a. highest and midway points)
Now, I believe you're recreating an anime screenshot, right? Usually anime is more simplified so don't bother yourself with all those details
Instead, as it is a simplified style, try to break it down to its core components
i see, and yes this is an anime screenshot for its core components what color would that be? in the diagram up above?
I don't wanna bore you with complicated anatomical names, so here's another chart. Explanation is down below.
Well, since it is anime, shading is very, very simplified. This is due to studios saving money and time. The only parts with light are the helix (the border of the ear) and the antitragus (that little bump on the ear). The rest is in darkness due to the angle of the head and the lightning. The ear is foreshortened, so it may at first not make sense why the antitragus is in light, but it's because it goes out slightly and is connected to a high part (although my chart is very rushed, so forgive me for that).
Anyhow, unless it's a scene that's staying for longer than three seconds, I wouldn't fixate on it as animation isn't analyzed frame by frame (unlike an illustration)
There are more things I'd like to explain but it's better to just explain some factors as it is not a major problem (I hope)
This is Helping out ALOT! and dont worry after the ear is done its gonna be a still frame, as i animate the mouth separate (It how dokkan does it) no i do have ONE More question, for the green part in the diagram should that be the color of the grey i have or a Darker color?
Thank you! Usually people find my explanations a bit long haha
Hmm, I'd say to add a slightly darker color. The reason it seems dark is mostly because of the contrast with the lighting... but there's definitely a shift in color. It's not all that noticeable because of the lighting effect behind him, though.
Got the Inner Ear Detail done now i need help learning how to shade it, how should i go about it?
I Have No Idea how i should go about this
Reference btw
im just not sure how to make it look good
Use the chart I gave you and think about all the things I explained. The outside (helix) should be hit by the light as well as that little bump (antitragus).
I'm on a pc right now so my examples are kinda bad. Anyway, first lay down your the light for the cell shading, then your highlight. Like this:
I suggest you focus on the overall silhouette since the light effect really blurs most of the details out
I'm sorry for the late response, I was rather busy yesterday
What colors should i use for inside the mouth & Tongue?
