So, these are two of my characters that i draw regularly. The one that is tilted sideways with her hand out is Leila, and the one with her hands behind her back is Kayoko. i do not get why leila’s character looks… idk better to me and kayokos looks really bad? im thinking its the head size (Kayokos head looks bigger because she is 5 feet tall, Leila is 5’9), but idk how to rectify that. also in general her body shape is just… off to me, i am unsure. Maybe i need to understand anatomy better, especially on short people 😭 pls help (other constructive critique is welcome too :3

maybe i ought to label them like in the pictures themselves lol

probanly the pose is a wee bit more dynaic on the second one which i like better idk wahhhh

hi! i love the pose you gave leila, its super dynamic! i think thats the reason it looks 'better' than kayoko. especially when you tuck her hands behind her back, her silhouette doesnt really stick out which makes the whole composition more 'boring'. it looks like shes a shy character, one thing i would do is bend her legs inward to exaggerate that, and maybe place her hands forward holding eachother. and lastly, when drawing shorter people, they usually follow similar proportions to not short people lol. the one exception is that the head usually looks a little bigger. otherwise, great job so far!

heres an example of what i mean by the proportions. she has the same body proportions as a tall person, but her head is just a little bigger compared to the rest of her body. mafuyu hoshikawa from blend s btw

kind of hard to contextualize the idea of the proportions being similar to tall people but just with larger head

#

goimg to nitpick myself wnd say kayokos thigh is smaller than the other btw

#

i thought taller people were tall becaus they have longer legs than upper body
