Honestly the reason for that is a lesson I myself fail to learn sometimes:

Stop sketching

Well, not completely

But don't go beyond like

10 minutes of sketching

After that

Your eye shouldn't view things as steps

Try to draw what will be finished

Block in the colors

Use hue and saturation shift to include shadows

Maybe use some rough lines to keep track of some shapes, like how I did with the head

Stop viewing things in layers and outlines

It's pointless, It's like trying to make a handprint by dipping your finger in paint and trying to draw it

No, place your whole fucking palm once you've decided where

It's gonna be real fucking hard

But the moment you get used to it

Is the moment you suddenly realize how useful it is
