And are there other methods to draw the face? I think I am getting the position wrong with em looms method…
Mostly need help with hair
Definitely have to up the contrast with the person’s hair. Is the medium you’re using pencil?
It’s about weight of the pen and angle of the graphite when shading. Lemme find a nice tutorial!

In this tutorial I show you how to draw hair. How most people approach it the wrong way, and how to get the hair to look 3-dimensional instead of looking like spaghetti...

My boi Proko ain’t let me down yet
dont be afraid to go darker and higher contrast
You can try the grid method or if u still think ur proportions are wrong, take a picture of ur drawing parallel, the bring it into Picsart, add the reference photo onto and lower the opacity, line it up with ur drawing, ull be able to see where you went wrong
ill just tel u about techniques and what i use, so here are things i use for shading: brushes (makeup) and stumpers. For drawing: Pencil that go from 1h to 9b. Highlights: white gel pen and a precision eraser. And for techniques i simply cover an area like in the shade it has to be or a little ligher, dont press too hard on the paper! And then i go over it with a brush to shade it/make it smoother and then i do the same in the areas that need to be a bit darker, i keep layering and shading i guess? I'll send you a vid on tiktok that helped me with some techniques since this was actually my first drawing this realistic. Also make a sketch first! sound obvious but its genuinely so much easier cus you just only have to fill it in but anyways ill send you some tiktoks and a pic of my sketch.
also for really dark areas i recommend charcoal but i'd start with just pencil
