did one more
Yeeahh
It looks so good 👍 especially good for only 10 weeks. Btw here, this might help with geting the width of something right. I think this will be good for future portraits if you plan on doing more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGWGf3jVpeo
This video is about measuring with pencil for observational drawing as well as how to use your pencil to find correct angles of shapes
For digital refrences, just put the pencil up to the screen and measure one thirds, etc.
thank u so much 🙏
yes i tried to do that, i also saw a proko video about this topic and he said to try and find units, idk why but with this one i kinda couldnt do it
Oh I see, what went wrong?
Its not that It went wrong, but i couldnt find like horizontal units for some reason
only a few but nothing else
So i just had to eyeball a bit
I see, when you let's say put the top of the head then then chin for measuring vertical, then you should flip it and see where the cheek bones are compared to that. You did a good job none the less, dw too much about it
Then you can see where the features are and that will be like much better, if your head wideness is screwed then it's likely that the facial features will be too
by flipping It
Do u mean
just flip the paper?
You can do that too, but I was talking about the pencil
ooooh
yeah that makes more sense 😂
Lol
Aight got it
also i didnt really know how to draw the eyes and nose
I just remembered how proko did it in his example video and i just did it
i might need to study the head anatomy idk
Ohh I see
Probably
(Day 69) i shaded the drawing from 68. Had some trouble identifying some shades like the brows or perhaps the hair
(Day 70) more of a break day. only did the warmup exercises
Woahhh dude anit no way you drawed that
You draw better than me i couldn’t even shade no more everything you draw the protrait is just fire
Can’t wait to see how your drawing becomes later
i mean i did it
thank u for the compliment
i dont think it looks good tho
It amazing to me sound like your a professional no lie literally looks kinda real
Anytime
Week 11 of learning how to draw
(Day 71) watching a David finch tutorial about learning to draw heads using the loomis method
I watched the first 10 minutes, i tried to follow Up and It looks a bit off but i now understand the parts a bit more
another attempt trying It by only following the notes i took myself (and a bit of the video bc i forgot to do smth)
and It didnt came out bad?
this is how davids turned out
if ur just starting out drawing heads that looks insane
good work
I did this same thing like last week
😭
thanks brother
ye im starting out
bc i feel kinda stuck so i wanted to do smth more challengin
do it, why not if ur free
only thing it takes to do something chalenging is time
It is yeah
Currently im having free time so i want to use It the best way i can
did one attempt from other angle and with a more simpler approach
had to take a look at the tutorial sometimes bc i forgot some things 😭
(Day 73) looked at a proko video on how to make interesting and dynamic shapes and took some notes
(Day 74) I crashed out
(Day 75) practicing drawing dynamic shapes, and i also drew a human pose
honestly it turned better than i expected, i used guidelines for the torso and the head, the rest i just tried to get the perspective
I thought these were all supposed to be human and was so confused at first
nah they supposed to be seals
i did the extra human pose for fun
Yeah I figured that out after about 3 seconds
they look like seals im just insanely tired
i get it
(Day 76) just some doodles
I honestly liked how this one turned out
Balance looks off tho so i might try to fix that
I think It looks better like this
I might do some more later but im not too sure
pulled this out of my ass and i raw dogged It, no guidelines, nothing, just imagination
and ik It looks like ass, but hey at least it looks like a human face, and im Happy with that
better than nothing ig
yeah
ig
tf it doenst work anymore
ig it doesnt work no more
wip study
Fr
Looks accurate like very 😍😍
Ahh can’t wait when you finish it bet it amazing
Fr dude
Wow i appreciate it man
Almost done
I Will continúe tomorrow tho
Oh and this is the ref
Thanks man
Woahhh 😍
Although i have to do some corrections like the eyes
Bc they look a bit off
but still im not dissapointed on how It turned out
Don’t worry too much about the correction as you move on to diff drawings you will know your mistake for drawing which is good 👍 good luck
U right
Ty 🙏
Anytimes
@golden parrot
I was wondering what did you do to improve your shading I wanna learn how to shade Aswell i forgot how to do it
Honestly
I havent even gotten to shading yet
I first mark where the different shades are
Very light
Then i start with a mild dark, then the darkest and finally the lightest details
And also
Do a lot of máster studies
Like, if u like one specific artist a lot
U can learn from his drawings
You haven’t what it looks so amazing and real how you did it dude
Yeah like i said
I first draw the Big shapes u know
The face
The eyes, ears, mouth
In simple shapes and lines
Then i immediately start shading
It doesnt have to look the same as the reference
Interesting
But u need to learn, how the artist uses his lines and for what he uses them
then u can apply the same to ur drawing
Normally studies can take 1 hour?
Idk what was the recommended time limit but i think It was 1 hour
Right then what artist would be good like can it be anything on yt and does it have to be specific ones
Nono
Any artist
its recommended tho if u find one
Ohhh
That did It for example on traditional
So that u can see how they draw their strokes and lines
And how to use them for ur own drawing
And VERY IMPORTANT
Ohhh I understand now
I used to do that 🤦♀️
Dont try to be a perfectionist bc u Will get too attached to it
I gotta stop with it
And it could look even worse if u overthink
Attached in what way
Yeah i struggle with that sometimes
Oh my
Attached means
like u think urself
This is a Portrait It has to look good
Ohhh
And then u make little details
I see
And details
And details
And so on
But yeah
i always try to draw every day
Even if i only do the warm up exercises
I do them
That good
Keep it up ima try and draw everything like did before
Gotta stop lacking
Yep
Consistency of one the most important aspects of drawing imo
Wow i think the eyes really made a difference
Or am i trippin
Oh i forgot (Day 77)
WOAHG
Yes your right
Woah you made such a big progress
Woahhh can’t believe it dude
im glad to hear that
(Day 79) looked at some prokos videos due to the course, then decided to draw some exaggerated poses
With the time i Will try to take less time with the poses, thats why i rushed the last one (10 mins)
refs:
I like ur anatomy and perspective
ur really good
aay tysm
although im just trying to capture the poses
idk too much about anatomy
so u can do it too
just gotta be very consistent
and learn the right things
(Day 80) kinda followed a tutorial along and drew these angles for the head, had no problem understanding so i guess i need to try other angles
When u cut the circle, you gotta remember to cut it from both sides
(talking about number 7 btw) another thing is to use straight lines to the chin, the cheek actually has a starting point which u cant always get correct without practice, so the cheek starts from the cheek bone (you can know where that is at by studying the skull) but ye I think the only thing that looks off is the cheek
And number six, think of the face as a curved paper. When you bring that to the same perspective you will realise that it becomes a kinda curved and like a upside down U.
Actually let me just use a paper to show a example
The face is also just like this, a similar shape
And when this perspective happens u will see the under chin
Tbh just wanted to explain the shape a bit because many beginners tend to need more help to understand this, and many people are stuck ages without understanding I was also not understanding this when I was a beginner so just a bit of help
Aaay i really appreciate the help and feedback
And yes i kinda knew about the u shape thing, not the cheek tho i really didnt notice that
i just followed a tutorial i saw on yt but first he used a Compass to draw the circles, and then some of them looked kinda weird? Idk if thats just me tho
But yeah i Will take a look on that today
Once again ty for the help
(i also didnt know about cutting both sides in other angles i just followed the tutorial 😭, good to know)
Np
One quick question rillet
does that mean i should do skull studies at the same time?
or do i start with just practicing heads
Just start practicing heads for now
Peace
I just want to know if its any good or not
Okay
Sure if It doesnt bother u
It's cool
Hey guys!
In this video, we are drawing the human head from 15 different angles. We will be using Andrew Loomis's time-tested method and I think you will be surprised at how quickly you will understand and enjoy drawing like this. No charcoal in this one just colored pencils and your sketchbook is all you need.
REMEMBER*** I am now on Skillsha...
I think it's flawed
I think the artist isn't tryna scam but is sharing their knowledge but by the looks of it they aren't a pro
I would suggest picking someone more skilled to learn from
Btw no hate to the artist i just think it's not the best someone can learn from
Yeah ok np
Before this one
I looked at David finchs tutorial on the loomis method
Drawing well proportioned heads consistently is a challenge for any beginning artist, and some us old pros sometimes too! There are a lot of different ways to approach head construction, but one of my favorites is the Loomis Method. In this video, we break down Andrew Loomis' head construction technique!
Thanks so much for watching! If you e...
(Day 81) Crashing out part 2
(Day 82) Yaaaay I didnt crash out today 😁
Still struggling with the "looking up" poses
So if anyone has tips or tricks to make It easier, then i would appreciate it
For the drawings that you labled "gotta practice those" the first one is well how do I explain this, so everything follows perspective right and let's say the jaw and the circle is grouped together meaning they can't disattach from each other, so if you were to move one upwards the other thing also goes upwards. So you cant just make the jawline upwards without making the circle follow the same thing, also think of it this way the more you move the head up the more underchin it shows, for this example you would either need to move the jawline up so it can justify showing that much underchin or you wouldnt show underchin at all because without moving that up I don't think it would show the underchin. Also quick tip, our necks placement a bit beffore our ears so when your drawing don't connect it to your jaw, and I mean for both sides not just one, you should calculate where it is like know where it connects to even if it's covered. You can make the underchin connect to the neck, not the other way arround. You can see a example of this in your second one, you connected that correctly.
Actually I take back "the it wouldn't show a underchin at all in this" It probably does just not as much, you would need to lessen the under chin shown.
found it
Your welcome hehe
(Day 84) Failure of a sesh 😭🙏
Tbh i i felt like i didnt wanna draw
Gesture at least
I think i might need to learn anatomy from now on
(Day 85) idk, maybe i just had a bad day yesterday, i felt more inspired today
(Day 86) Lil study + a bit of head practice
heres the ref:
I fixed It Up a bit but looks almost the same
Nice attempt! I love your rendering of the hair. I can tell where the light is hitting even without the ref
The forehead is too short so you might wanna move the eyes and eyebrows down a bit
yeah thats what i thought after i finished it 😭
but oh well i shouldnt get too attached to it
and i also thank u for doing these corrections wow
i appreciate it a lot 🫶
(Day 87) study, might do other stuff later
I started the study by trying first to map the head and guidelines with the loomis method, then i started drawing the rest
Fixed?
Oh wow I really like how it looks
I think you shouldn't be scared of sharp pencil tho
Maybe it's the paper you use?
Yeah the paper i use is textured from the front, and very textured from the back
Tysm 🙏
Yeahh but I think if you'd add some almost black values it'd be so so much better
I mean yeah
I try to but i cant make It darker than It is
The paper hinders me a bit
Yeah when I was drawing traditional
I hated textured paper
I think pencil looks way worse on it
yeah i just bought a cheap sketchbook to practice
i have another one from the brand canson, but im saving that one when i get better
or when i draw a big portrait and shi
Nahhhh don't save it, trust me you're going to think that yoire never better even tho you're 😭
Sad reality of being an artist
its bc of that
its just an expensive sketchbook so thats the reason behind it
Ahhhh
Well then maybe you shoukd try just school paper? I did a lot of drawings on it and it wasn't that textured
yeah but its not heavy enough
i have a pile of printer paper that i use for warming upç
but thats it
Printer paper is to thin
Damn idk how to translate it to eng but we have like school papee
Paper
Byt uts thicker
And still cheap
Idk translator said its "technical blook" but igs usually 200g and kids use it
But it really good
could u send a pic of it?
Week 13 of learning how to draw
(Day 88) watched some videos on eyes just to have some things more clear in my mind
Why are Lips so hard to draw dawg
Been there
i forgot to send the ref
this time i didnt exactly follow the ref as it is, i made the guidelines, and put all the face parts first and then i started adding details
I did another one, this time from imagination. I think It turned out pretty well
face looks good but the body is small compared to the head
I think It looks less off now
(Day 89) a few gesture drawings + face study
Theres something wrong with it, smth that feels off but idk what It is
here is the ref
Maybe the lip? Idk man
Maybe the eyes?
maybe the gap between the lips and the nose? its bigger in your drawing which makes the whole face feel longer since if the nose is higher so are the eyes
great gesture drawings btw!!! they show the pose and dynamic very well :33
I can tell the difference from the ref the chest is saggy if you look at the ref you can see it way up and also for the nose you drawed more triangle and also for the hair is just not cleary if you make it not so thick you can see the actual difference what I think you should Is to just focus on the outside hairline and when you have time you can practice the inside too
No offence I’m just helping not trying to be rude
I have that clear, im not exactly following the ref
Just taking ideas from it, specially the angle
But still ty for the hel
Aaay ty for the help and support i appreciate it 🙏
yes i saw that
But that okay you know because that your own style not everyone has the same style what do you expect
I asked in art help and they told me to put the Lips a bit higher
Oh yeah that defo could do the lips is more round
Good luck let hope we’ll see better results 😉
Now that you know what to do
I think It looks a bit less off now
Yes almost your getting there
yep, looks better!! proportions of the head are often hard to get right but you did pretty good :D
Im glad to hear that 😁 i mostly struggle with putting the face parts
even when u put smth a Lil bit off then sll the face looks off
So i gotta be careful with that
im a beginner too so the only tips i can give that somewhat help me with drawing faces would be: the dip in the nose and the eye placement is often at the same height, its helpful especially in side view since the dip is more visible there
and to be mindful of the gaps around the mouth (as in gap between chin and mouth, and gap between mouth and nose) since they can be tricky and make the whole drawing feel off
Oh yes
I see that u normally put the mouth a bit higher than the half of the third
other than that nothing much, i like to do deconstruction myself and figure out guidelines on my own so i dont watch that many tutorials haha
From chin to nose
oh man i feel that
I usually do that too
its a lot easier to grasp everything that way, when you actually put your mind into it and think why something is drawn this specific way
anyway good luck, drawing is hard as hell and i wish you the best !! your anatomy and proportions of the body look great so you have one of the hardest things already behind you
Honestly
I feel very relieved hearing that
Have in mind tho i drew the gesture drawings with refs
So i still have to learn to draw figures
From memory
i mean ye ofc, i draw my gestures with refs also but you still did amazing, being able to observe a model and draw their proportions correctly is also a great skill that artists learn through practice. And also thanks to using refs you fill up your mental library which then contributes to you drawing from imaginary since then its easier for you to draw that thing correctly and notice when something feels off :33
Yeah exactly
Thats why i started drawing a face study every day
To make my visual library bigger
oh man i wish i had that type of motivation XD im too lazy and busy with school, i draw every other day if im lucky, but i mostly just doodle in my notebooks
there is so much dust on my pen from my drawing tablet
but its great that you are able to spend even a little bit of time every day on drawing, your progress from what i have seen is very good, being consistent does a lot of work when it comes to learning how to draw
Yeah i like to be consistent
Gives me momentum to learn and improve even more
And tbh i dont get why some people spend too much drawing every day
Ur brain cant process to much information and thus u wont retain all of it
ye, its good to let that information simmer and get processed so your brain is able to fully grasp it, also just resting after drawing is great for preventing burn out
@quaint surge is that sampo on your pfp???
YEEE MY HUSBAND!!!!
SAMPO FAN SPOTTED
live laugh love sampo
Yehawww
I think i Will do that tmrw
Since i had a full time day at work
And i normally work part time so i was a bit tired
then i hope you will have a great break day!! :33
thank you!!
(Day 90) alr 3 months in yaay
Tbh i didnt feel like drawing today
Idk what to do now
I would like to start learning anatomy or smth
Hi, I am interested in purchasing some of the wonderful and well crafted designed pieces on your page, kindly reach out to me thanks
Hello ❤️,
You are doing a great job! I love your work. Your style truly amazes me and is beautiful. I purchase artworks as NFTs. Can you sell it to me?
How will u make it into a nft? Just curious since dude is doing traditional
NFT is a Non-fungible token. They are digital asset that are traded with crypto currencies and are guided by smart contacts.
NFTs are quite easy to make, it requires a well taken or scanned image registering on an NFT marketplace and paying a little gas fee and listing it. Thats all quick and easy.
im sorry but i dont take comms
Decided to take a better pic bc on the other one u cant see nothing
(Day 91) Just started my anatomy journey, took some notes and drew with some refs the most important joints
Theres no way back now 😭
That account that asked you this looks like some kind of scam 😭
Damn you fast
I'm like 4 months in and I still don't feel ready enough 😭
I mean i want to learn to design characters and shi
So i gotta learn It at some point
(Day 92) i did a back "study" today
Going to the gym might have been a really good advantage bc i know most of the muscles and kinda their form
ref:
Forgot to add the lower and upper traps so that its visible
Decided to do this one too
i might try to follow this schedule for the torso
I've done this twice before and it has need a lot. Highly recommend
I’ve followed that schedule too
Hell yeah
I might have a godlike eye observation
You do
this is also a scammer fyi
anyone saying they'll turn ur work into an nft is bullshitting
Ik man i just ignored it
good
(Day 93) drew a pose from 4 diff angles from imagination
I think that I mostly lack understanding about the arms, calfs? and feet
(Day 94) did some loose sketches using refs
I only did 12 tho instead of 15 but i still think that its a good amount
Also for most of them i took 5 min, and for a few roughly 6-7min
Week 14 of learning how to draw
Forgot to add i used a few muscular persons as refs too, bc yeah, im studying anatomy i guess
I’d highly recommend doing this challenge with individual body parts at first. When I first did it, I focused on arms (and even then that might be too much; if so, you can break it up in lower and upper arm or something ) and the second time I did necks.
I was about to do that, im still searching for which parts give me the most trouble
And funny enough its the arms too
YO THIS ONE DOESNT LOOK THAT BAD?
I also made the hair a Lil bit different bc in the ref It just looks boring
Attempt from imagination
How do you trace traditionally? With an AR? If so which app do you use? I've been looking for a way to trace traditionally and the only ones that popped to mind back then were printing out the images
I don’t think he trace never seen him did it but I can help you how to trace a friend taught me to
You don’t need a app to trace
Get any device you have, Find a image, download it or screenshot
Turn the brightness all the way to max until it feels like there's bleach in Your eyes then put a paper on top and use tape or bluetack to secure and trace
And trace lightly if you do hard you will make mark on the device
Good luck
Wait let me show u
I actually used one for this study
Ads might be annoying but It works
Thanks, this should help me with proportions and deconstruction
(Day 96) Day 4 of the challenge done (i did 8 instead of 10 for my sanity since im busy rn)
Does anyone have any tips on drawing forearms? I cant completely understand the muscles groupes that make the forearm and where they are placed and attached
(Day 97) cant draw too much bc i gotta do smth for school but at least i made some Lil studies
refs:
i really had to watch a proko video on forearms bc brother 😭
they confuse me a bit
at least i feel that im getting better
you are
the improvement is there
good to hear brother
i agree with this lol
I recommend using contour lines to better understand the form of the muscles
Something like this
Aight i Will, i just thought of first learning the muscles and where they attach, then simplifying and adding gesture
(Day 98) more practice, still confused with a few things but ig i will get them with the time or repetition
refs:
i might do other things later, i just feel a bit overwhelmed learning this type of stuff
Damnnn it looks good
Thanks Saturn i appreciate it 🙏
I used the box method and well It worked out ig
Now you need to exercise faces cuz that looks dope
Thats actually one of my goals
I just need to finish studying a bit of anatomy
Then maybe take a break and go back on faces
Anything but that
i wont touch that until im good enough
Genuinely
I also hate painting
Im too impatient man
Yeah but I want to make some more progress
Tho it's incredibly hard with digital
At first yoire like
I can use every color possible
Until you don't know which one to choose
Idk
I just like drawing in black and White
Using ink and shi
Maybe im just close minded rn
this is a bit too true lmao
Bro I'm trying so hard not to give up on this
the arm studies look good damn
ty ty brother
(Day 99) finished day 7
Im just gonna leave It like this
Maybe practice for a bit more with refs but i Will move on to the torso and then the head
(Day 100) did a face from imagination, currently dont feel like drawing too much, maybe its work or smth
Or maybe art block
(Day 102) a few figure drawings, i might start learning the torso muscles, at least the back ones since those are the ones that I dont have that Big of a visual library as the front view
refs:
Maybe i did the torso too long
did a quick redraw without guidelines, proportions look a bit better now
(Day 103) bit of variety, i might go back to studying and learning poses bc im struggling with back views and with the torso and hips
i might need to do a big study on hips and the torso im excited about that, but i will need to find the time to do that
refs:
(Day 104) figure drawing and poses practice before i move on to the torso and ribcage anatomy
Fixed the right hand since It wasnt visible in the other pic
refs
(Day 105) ribcage and pelvis studies
Im so tired mentally so im not able rn to practice it
I Will try tomorrow to
I did one more
ref
still cant get myself to understand how the hip fully works
its so tuff 💔
Week 16 of learning how to draw
You’ll get there eventually we believe in you ✊✊
The cherry on top
I had to do one more for the sake of my mental health
Now i can sleep relieved
Ty for the support nicole
Always appreciated
No worries we always here for you as your there for us too 😌
looking good
appreciate it dead 🙏
Ive fixed It a bit since the back looked a bit off
Woahh that looks amazing
I blended It with a bit of paper so that It doesnt look too "crunchy"
Ty nicole
Oooo
Btw how are you improving the eyes each day in drawing a potrait the eyes turns to realistic when you draw it each time
I mean they dont look too realistic to me
But i guess i just regularly do portraits and face studies
And before that I learned the parts of the eye and how It works on a face and with angles applied
I drew this one from imagination
idk i just felt too tired to draw more or better
i gotta use hb instead of 2b
Ohh make sense then
You use 2b pencils?
I have an hb and a 2b pencil
(Day 108) im gonna stop counting day by day from day 120
Nice, your faces have gotten a lot better
Ref:
U think so?
For sure yeah
its time to end this
no more daily updates
im only gonna post my sketches and drawings
and update weekly
for my own sake
Alr good luck 😭
tbh a 106 day streak is really impressive
i dont think i can pull off a week
I wont stop drawing every day
But its just boring to draw, then send what i did in the day
I Will just try to draw as much as possible daily
And enjoy it
Ig its just dedication
First one lowkey fire
Second one went eh
i didnt get the foreshortening too right
I appreciate it brother 🙏
much love 🫶
You did well there are only some slight mistakes
Yes but jaw lacks definition
Of course
And lacks a bit of foreshortening like i said
Yeah
Grinding torsos rn
looks good
the construction under that is hard to pull off so good job with that
practicing all angles is pretty difficult as well
Yeah
Im focusing rn on getting the proportions right, since most of the times i draw It thinner than i should
I think this one looks nice
the ribcage and arms are a little small
im still alive
Move away from anime proportions get into gesture drawing and low detail drawing or skeleton
Like ribcage spine pelvis
U can come back to anime proportions after doing human anatomy only👹
